Air conditioner filter (I'm a smoker)

Good day,
New to the forums as a poster. I have been all over the forums last year as I readied and bought a 94 Tioga. Tons of very good information and many of the tips HELPED greatly.

My Tioga roof air contains those strip air filters that fit/lay in the shroud inside the interior part of the unit.
As a smoker, I want to replace these with something that helps 'scrub' the air clean.
Can I buy and cut to size air purifier filters?
Would the 'paper' style home furnance filter cut to size not allow enough flow?
Anybody been through this and found a working solution?
Thanks!

Thanks guys,
I think I will try the home ac filters first. If the flow is too greatly impeded, the purifier may be the way to go.
I use e-cigs; but they just don't cut it at times.
Thanks again!

I've been making replacement filters out of "30-day" home central A/C filters. The ones with the random strands, fiberglass I suppose. They catch dust, are washable, don't seem to restrict... But I'm sure there's no odor scrubbing.

I'm a smoker.....I go outside.

A/C Units use those little foam filters for a reason........air flow
Is it time for your medication or mine?

E cig only rule applies in my rig unless I'm driving without AC since the wind forces the cabin air out of the window with vents opened slightly.

Air flow is really important...not enough and the unit will, "ice up."
Not thinking that anything like a home style pleated filter will work. Certainly anything that will, "scrub the air," will restrict flow and cause problems.

Most smokers we know go outside to smoke...or how about one of those stand alone air purifier units that you plug into an outlet?

I cut one of our oversize house filters (Accordian type, Filtrete?) to fit. It's a challenge because the filter has wires imbedded in it. Also, the accordian design has to flatten out somewhat to fit. BUT it seems to work since we've had it installed all Summer. You might want to change it monthly for best effect.
