Bad gas ?

Just purchased 2016 Allegro Bay V10 gas. RV has been sitting for a long time, very low mileage.
Check engine light on, took it to a Ford dealer and they said it was a misfire on two cylinders, blamed it on bad gas which they said is not covered under warranty. They want 1000.00 to drain the tank.
If I don't they said injectors and other problems will not be covered later.
Should I just treat and run the 100 gallons out and clear light ??
Or should I go along with them. They said they tested the gas by lighting some on fire and it did not all burn.

Thanks
Jim

I would ask for the results of that test in writing.

Their test doesnโ€™t seem very scientific if you ask me. Sounds like bro science. How much fuel is in the tank now? If it isnโ€™t much Iโ€™d drain it out with a siphon and treat it with startron. Run a a gallon or two in my car at each fill up so itโ€™s not wasted or disposed of improperly.
A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.

This same thing just happened to me on my 2019 last week. Drove it to Utah, accidentally filled up with 85 octane. On my way home the check engine light popped on. P0300 random misfire detected. I called my buddy who is a ford tech he said to fill her up with 91 and clear the code, he suspected it was the fuel.. I took her for a 130mile drive and no check engine light.

(its not about 'labor' charges)

A shop that drains the fuel, has too pay a disposal fee, to have it taken away

if NY is like Calif, yes its going to be expensive
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

One of our drivers put a lot of diesel in a V-10 motorhome and Ford charged us about a grand to flush the system. It ran bad and smoked a lot. Ran great after the flush.

Did they tell you what the OBD codes were showing? Some aut parts stores will read codes for you.
Could be bad coil packs if that is code.
Bad gas will not set a code.
Get some fuel system cleaner such as Lucas or Chevron Techrolene(sp). Put enough in for your size of fuel tank. I would overdose somewhat for first time, but don't get carried away.

I would get a second opinion from a reputable mechanic with a good scan tool. First of all I would think a misfire from bad gas would be random, not just 2 cylinders. Second of all I have never heard of a burn test for bad gas. If the gas is very old it will smell like lacquer. They should be able to drain any bad fuel with a siphon which shouldn't cost anywhere near a $1k.

Stick a hose in the filler, and siphon it all out. Fill with hightest, and Lucas, and it will clean itself. Find any downtown NY street kid, they will siphon it for the gas.

They don't know what's really wrong and are too lazy or untalented to figure it out. The idea of setting some fuel on fire and then claiming it didn't all burn is ludicrous.
I would either burn through the fuel or take it someplace else.
