Bubble Top Van vs Roadtrek Style Gas Mileage

I just sold my 1995 Pleasure way 19 ft, which got spectacular fuel mileage. It looked the same as the Roadtrek style.

I'm looking at the Bubble top style of the same year. Which has the bed in the bubble top.

Can anyone give me an idea what they consume in fuel with the bubble top style vans of that era?

I agree about the handling. I avoided highways... and a passing 18 wheeler was a lesson in white knuckle driving. I would never own another one... in spite of the wonderful inside height and extra
storage.

I have a coachmen tm 18. Best I've seen is 16, worst 11, 13 14 is most commin. My bubble isn't quite so high but close.

What I do get is blown around in the wind!

I had a 2004 GWV Classic Supreme and over three years, it averaged 14-15, if I drove at highway speed limits. If I went 55 mph, I could get better. This was the small Ford.

With my current 2015 Chevy RT, I have averaged 17 at highway speed limits.

Different era vans... and different manufacturers, but comparable results I think.

Great question. I was hoping for an 18 mpg target for a Class B before buying. Most affordable B I found was what I bought, a 1996 Coachmen with that distinctive over-cab bed. Chevy V-8. I love that style for storage and pivoting area inside, but ours is a tight fit for sleeping. Anyway, I am struggling to get 14 mpg. Looks like 13 is about what I get so far, and with a/c use, it can be under 13. But just had a major tune up to pass a failed emissions inspection, so now I hope to somehow get to 14 mpg or higher. Will need a few months to know. I know I have a lead foot at times, I may try some 55 mph driving to see how that helps.
