I own a 42ft. Motor Home. I have heard people call them a BUS or a MOTOR HOME. I would like to know which term is correct?

What if we call a bus the units that have the entry door between the windshield and the front tire, and a motor home the ones that have the windshield, the front tire AND then the entry door.

That makes sense to me at least.

Some live in a home.

Some live in a bus.

Some live in a truck.

Some live in a coach.

The coaches used primarily to transport groups or individuals from one site to another are usually are called a bus, while those designed to live in are motorized homes or motorhomes. Originally a bus was a vehicle designed to transport larger groups of people all going to the same destination.

According to a recent story by Bob Tiffin, in "Roughing It Smoothly" the term "bus" came about in the late 80's because some owners called their "Allegro Pushers" buses because of the entry door being in front of the passenger seat much like a bus.

Steve Good question! I've been told but have no proof to back my statement! So I'm just going to throw it out there. Motorhomes that were built on truck frames example : lots of coaches are built on Freightliner Truck Chassis and Bus Conversions are built on Bus frames example : Prevost and Marathon. I hope I don't get roasted on this one!

I think of a bus as the type of vehicle that resembles a tour bus or school bus in looks and construction and a motorhome doesn't look like that. Just how I think of it.

When we were looking to get into a motorhome, the DW was looking at class Cs. I told her I wanted a bus.

Therefore, we call ours The Bus.

Don't make much difference what you call it, it won't come any way.
How about just calling it "the Coach"?
A lady one time called ours a "mobile home" I corrected her said "Motor Home". She asked what the difference was, my reply was about a hundred thousand dollars.
