I own a 42ft. Motor Home. I have heard people call them a BUS or a MOTOR HOME. I would like to know which term is correct?

I think of a bus as anything that was originally used as a commercial passenger bus, tour bus, or school bus. Alot of old busses get converted into motorhomes. I call them busses.

Everything else that is an RV with a motor in it, I call either a motorhome, or a camper van if it has a van body on it.

If it doesn't have a motor, it's either a trailer if it has wheels, or a truck camper if it's carried on a truck.

Generally speaking, I call them all RV's.

I don't think it really matters.
Some call motor homes, campers.
Some call motor homes, mobile homes.
Some call motor homes, vans.
Some call TT's, motor homes.

I just call our Southwind, the wind.
And, I gave up trying to correct people. They can call my RV anything, I don't get offended. ๐Ÿ™‚

No correct term so call it what you want and I will not tell you what my father called one as he was born in 1908 and lived to be 90. Served in WW II, recalled for the Korean war, and was scared by the great depression. He clearly felt anyone who owned one was lacking in intelligence.

I always think of the big Blue Bird, or flex or GMC when I hear bus. Not saying it's right, just how my brain was programmed over the years.

I call my 96 Rexhall 32 footer "the bus" no particular reason.

I still often call them "Winnebagos", regardless of brand. I usually call my own the bus or the RV, though RV as a general term for the type as opposed to a particular unit is too broad a term. Motorhome or motorcoach sounds snotty to me. I suppose "class A RV" is succinct but I dislike the elitism implied by the A thing.

There are motorhomes which are true bus conversions (Prevost and MCI, mostly) and they are always called a bus. What makes one a bus or a coach is more a state of mind. They are all motorhomes but I believe the term bus originated when the first, used to be a bus, was built.
I would call what you have either a motorhome, RV or coach. However, you can call it absolutely anything you like and you will still be right!!!!!
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Yes, I don't know why Tiffin calls it a 'bus'. We don't even like the term 'coach'...sounds stuffy. We used 'RV' or motorhome.

Tiffin likes to call their Allegro a bus. Far from it on IMHO.

Our rig (see sig.) looks like a bus, but it is a motorhome or "the coach".
Actually, we don't really care what others call it. They can call it whatever they want!

Other than "Class A", I don't think there is a "correct" term.
