Cab Privacy Curtains

When we went out this past weekend for the first time in our Class C, we went to put up the privacy curtain. Along the inside edge of the cab are these little round velcro tabs to place the velcro part of the curtain on. The problem we came across was that the curtain was a bit longer than the cab, but about a foot on each section. Also, the last tabs in the cab area was about a foot from the corner of the cab. So we had to sort of wedge the curtain into a joint of where the cab meats the rest of the RV. and let the other foot hang down. Is this normal? Are we missing something? Perhaps more velcro tabs? Should the curtain be that long? Or is there a trick to it?

In general the OE curtains suck. We intentionally ordered ours without the optional pleated cab curtains and decided to make our own.

Here are the summer ones: LINK

...and here are the insulated winter ones we did on two RVs: LINK

I use both the inside curtain and the outside one, but not at the same time. If I'm arriving late somewhere or it's a one nighter, I'll use the inside. It makes for a faster set-up and quicker get away. Looks like this.

If I'm staying longer, I'll use the heavy duty exterior ones.

BTW, the best privacy curtain is one that fits on the outside and connects around the corners of each cab door, across the windshield. Complete privacy and protection from outside elements, while giving you back some space inside.

I've been eyeing those and been telling my wife we need them instead...lol

Best place to get them?

I don't use that factory curtain for four reasons.
1 - It's ugly.
2 - I got a thick one that goes outside the vehicle and also acts as an insulator. Has anti-theft tabs. Clicky
3 - I made a curtain that goes between the cab and cabin. It helps with heat loss, and we can put the cat's litter box behind the curtain and out of the way. The cabin might "feel" a little less roomy but we don't use the cab space while we're set up anyway. The curtain slides open when we're driving. Details and pics
4 - The factory one is still ugly.

Our curtain snaps on top. Nothing on sides. I put the curtain front of the cab seats. Instead of letting it hang on back Side.
When we are gone. Jasmine our bigger dog. Pulls one side over. So she can see out.

It provided privacy and also opened it up adding more room.

Yeah, we don't have the dots that far back on ours. I think someone skipped out on us. I need to look in the bag and see if there are more in there that I can use.

Yes it seems to be longer than needed....but
We push the curtains up on the dash and have to leave a bunch of slack on each side of the windshield. The sun visors fold down to cover the slack we left there.

We also leave slack where it makes the curve to the side windows.
When we are done, the length comes out just about right.

Play with it a little leaving slack where needed and I'm sure you'll find some tricks to make it work better.

we do have one of those that fit around the outside also for when we are going to be staying a while.
