Wife and I looked at an 03 Tiffin Allegro Bus, with the Cummins ISB 300HP and Allison 6 sp. 1 owner, always maintained at frieghtliner or cummins. I know from word of mouth both Allison and Cummins are a good combo. Is there anything specific I should check?

Also new to air brakes, what should I look for there?

He did mention that the thermostat/intake housing cracked and was replaced at 62k (currently has 64k on it) and at the same time they did the rear main...

Forgot to add, its not just Alegro that can have no engine access, many others have the same "flaw". I say flaw because who ever designed such could have never used a diesel pusher imo.

There are to many variables and every person has different wants and needs but here is one thing that is for certain and not just an opinion. Some of the Alabama built DP's Ive looked at that other people owned had nearly zero engine access as in having a rear radiator and only a space maybe 2ft by 2ft under a panel in the closet for you to have access to the engine. Buy a side radiator coach because it can be hard enough at best to get to the engine to do the most minor of side of the road repairs ie filters belts and so on. Do yourself a favor and take heed to this. Good luck. Dub McBride

Sorry Larry---I have never had a payment. The Dynasty had 4 slides and when they were all in it was a pain to get to the rear bath among other things and was just to big for me. I liked the 450hp Cummins and several other things about it but it was just to big. I love this 36ft Monaco, it just seems to fit my 81 year old a$$ and drives like a car, LOL.

I have had DPs since 1997 even a Monaco Dynasty with 4 slides and 450hp.
I hated that thing and only kept it a year.

Interesting, I always considered the Dynasty to be the gold standard of
RVs. Never heard bad things about them before.
What made you hate yours?

Payments???

Winnebago Luxor 38ft. Rear radiator. All Monacoโ€™s have had side radiator and the Winnebago had the rear radiator and the 300hp.

OP asked what brands I have owned. Winnebago Luxor, and the rest have all been Monaco from 45ft Dynasty to current 36ft Monaco. At the time I got this one an entry level DP could be had for around $175K. And this one was $284k. A lot better house. Cummins and 6 speed Alison is the best drive trainโ€”-in my opinion.

Which rig was it that you had to pull over to let cool on the climb?

Here's something that's mandatory for me. When you bring out the frontroom slide, do the storage compartments come out with it? Mine do. If they don't, it's a real PITA to get into the storage compartments that are back under the slide outs.

Bill

That's funny, the bins coming out would be a deal breaker for me. If those bins come out you don't have a pass-thru basement. If it doesn't have a full, flat floor, pass-thru basement I'll keep looking.

But that's just me and I'm glad we all have a choice.

We have had coaches with storage that came out with the slide and also the pass through style. I believe I liked the pass through best.

Our left side basement doors can be opened when the slide is opened or closed but we must ensure they are closed prior to the slide is retracted .
we seldom use the left side doors because we have full pass thru basement .
