We are looking to sell our MH and was wondering if anyone knows what places like Camping World and PPl charge to sell your RV for you.

Thank You

Sounds like a lot of negative feelings regarding selling on consignment. I might try RVTrader, put a for sale sign on the MH in the yard, lower the price 10% and see what happens.

Thank you for all the input it helps a person make his/her decision.

Be VERY careful. We had a very bad experience with our consignment. The system has great potential for fraud, since the dealer is the only source of information to you about potential buyers.

I have had bad results using consignment. Once my fridge was stolen? How does that happen, coach was not broken into. I think the dealer stole it for one of his coaches. btw, my insurance covered it but had a $500 deductible. In addition, my Coach got very dirty inside as they did not protect carpet plus my drivers mirror got broken. I ended up selling myself through RV Trader. Also, I had a buddy use local small dealer to sell his expensive Coach. He got a deal and signed paperwork and give the dealer the title. Then a couple of days later the dealer declared bankruptcy and the guy did not get his check. He did finally get something through a State dealer bond but he was out big $. I have had good luck with RV Trader but you have to have lots of good clear pics.

In my opinion, PPL is not a good choice if you have an expensive Class A. Their photo sales board in their office shows numerous 10+year old rigs and lots of small trailers, but almost no recent vintage, high end units sold.
I made the mistake of using them to try and sell a Diesel Pusher. It was a 2007 tag axle rig that we listed with them for more than $150,000. I never got even an offer. When I went to pick it up it appeared to have been treated worse than a stepchild. It was parked in an area where the water from washing the nearby rigs apparently collects and there was no way to enter the rig without walking through several inches of mud. The water area was completely full of green pond scum, so it was obvious it wasn't a one off occurrence . Also weeds had grown into the chassis, so I know the rig was in that exact location for most of the six months it was there.
When I placed the rig for sale, I was promised they started them regularly to keep up the battery charge and the like. Of course mine didn't start, the batteries were completely drained, both house and coach. Had to replace all six. Then the rig didn't start because the computer that manages the Cummins went bad. This was not the fault of PPL, but there was no way the coach could have sold when it couldn't even run, and I was never informed there was a problem. Since it took several days to troubleshoot, get the part in and repair the rig I was left to idle about the dealership. NEVER did a salesperson ever appear to be showing units to perspective buyers. I watched numerous people get a list of rigs for sale, go out onto the lot, walk through some rigs and then leave without anyone even saying boo.
MANY of the rigs were parked so close together it was impossible to open the doors. Those rigs obviously would never sell since a perspective buyer couldn't get in them to evaluate them. To get in them PPL would have to move the adjacent rig to get access to the rig in question. When I finally got my rig out of there I noticed I was missing several knobs, buttons and trim pieces. Obviously some of the walkabouts decided those items worked better on their personal rigs than mine. Again, not a big deal, but it sure was frustrating. In the end I sold my rig to a wholesaler for a net of about $15,000 less than I would have netted had PPL sold it at near list price.
If I ever was to consign a rig again I would consign it at a dealer in the nearest large city to my residence. That way I could occasionally check on it. Those six months my rig sat at PPL were both costly and non productive.

Do NOT use CW. They will NEVER show your RV to prospective buyers.

Find a 'local' RV dealer near you. They will appreciate having a used RV on their lot.

They do not charge 'you' for anything, or shouldn't!

I sold my first TT on consignment at my local RV dealership. They asked what "I" wanted out of it and they just tack on an amount that they think they can get over what you want for it to their selling price which becomes their commission.

They sell it, give you what you wanted for it and anything above that is their commission. You do have to be realistic what you want to sell it for. If you want too high of a price, it will never sell.

Selling on consignment I didn't have to deal with all the people coming to my house to look at it, worrying about legit funds, scams, etc.

AND selling on consignment the dealership can arrange for financing and exchange of funds. Something we can't do selling it by owner. I think this part is priceless.

My RV sold in one week. They took care of everything and called me to pick up the check! :C

What year is mh? Newer dps are in demand. A late 90s gasser not so much. Craigslist for a week or two is worth a shot if you have a nice clean rig for sale. Demand for particular brands, lengths, and configurations can make it worth buyers to shop for 500 miles for what they are looking for. Again 2008 monaco tag vs. 90s gasser with no slides, big difference.

When we put our coach on consignment in Nacogdoches, TX, at Motorhomes of Texas, we had to get a rider on our policy to cover the coach while in consignment.

The rider was good for 6 months. It took 3 months to sell the coach and we received a refund for balance.

Motorhomes of Texas charged 8% commission.

I suggest you check with your Insurance Co. about selling at a consignment lot as some carriers do not cover any damage if it occurs. And Dealers insurance will not cover as they do not own the RV that is on their lot.

PPL is 10%. We were very happy with them and they sold ours within a month. It was a lot easier than trying to sell ourselves.
