My wife is not comfortable (if fact won't) driving our class A Itasca. For that reason, we've (about) decided to down size to a smaller class C. We're looking at a 2017 Thor Freedom Elite and a 2017 Thor Gemini. I recognize that these are basically entry level coaches but are on quality Ford chassis'. My question is directed to anyone who has knowledge about Thor's quality or lack thereof. Your advice and counsel regarding this pending purchase will be greatly appreciated. / Larry

Have you priced the Class C's? To me they are VERY expensive
Would she take driving lessons or is it too late?
Are you sure it is a driving issue and not one where she really doesn't want to go camping anymore or as much?

My wife use to drive a small class C I use to have but not the class A motorhome I have, and I would never trust her behind the wheel since she says she will probable wreck it.

X2 - A Class C in more difficult to judge turns and parking because the front is narrower than the rear. Take her to test drive one before purchasing to see how she feels about it. There's no sense getting another if she wouldn't drive that one either.

Have you asked her what she would drive?

I've owned 2 Thors now and would buy another. Their customer service is fantastic and any issues I had (albeit small) were dealt with swiftly and to my satisfaction. You just need to have realistic expectations about buying an entry level coach. lots of folks on here complain about Thor but most who do have never owned one. Frankly in that price point none are superior in the quality category - it's more about brand loyalty.

Larry, the wife and I are also thinking about downsizing and have been looking at small coaches also! Looked at a lot of them last night at the Tacoma RV Show. It's very hard to lay out over $100,000.00+ for one of those small coaches when brand new 35' Bounders and Pace Arrows were selling for under $90,000.00 out the door. I just talking about bang for the buck! There was a brand new HR 35' Class A it was loaded for $129,000.00 out the door. The upside of the new smaller coaches is how they utilize so much in a small space. Construction on those Class C's looks to me like there improving. IMHO, I would go Ford or MB Diesel. Good Luck

We bought a 2015 Thor Vegas last year. We downsized from a Fleetwood Bounder.
The Vegas had 2 problems, the windshield washer pump blew a fuse when used. We replaced the washer pump and all is good. Also the windshield developed a stress crack. Thor replaced it under warranty, even though we were out of warranty when it happened.
We just got back from a 3 week trip, had no problems.

You may want to check the thor forums, many more comments there, specific to Thor.
