Do they make it?

We are getting close to upgrading our 10 yo 5er to a class A or C. We are looking for a unit with the following list of features:
  • Self leveling
  • A king bed
  • TV across from the seating area, not over the drivers chairs
  • Under 26,000 lbs so we don’t need a special license

Where do we start looking?

If the op plans on staying licensed in his home state of Wisconsin, there is no 26k weight limit. He has a 45 foot length limit. As to the limiting him to Ford F53 gassers, that is not true. There are several, very nice, DPs on the market. In fact, my DP is well under the 26k and under 45'. But if it were my choice, I'd be looking at older, high line, coaches instead of new. Foretravel, Country Coach or something along that line.

Only 14 states have the 26k limit for licensing. And only 3 have the 45' motorhome length limit.

You got me Jim, I was trying to hide the fact that I wanted one that had little white canes that keep tapping the road so I stay on it!

Yes, the 5er is great, but we did look at a class A gasser this weekend and it was very nice.
Push a button and it levels itself, outside TV for watching football on Sundays when we stay till Monday

Tile floor so our Saint Bernard has a cool place to lie down, which is very important, she’s the family boss!
The only real problem is they are asking 130K before talking about trade, and we really don’t want to get rid of our F350.
And of course, it is a gasser, but under 26,000 lbs

I'm with Mike. The "class A (or B) non cdl license is a non issue.(unless of course the driver is blind, and currently licensed in a state that never requires additional testing to renew.)

Your 26k limit limits you to (mostly) Ford F53 gassers. Any and all DP's will have a higher weight limit.
That is one sweet fiver, and a really nice (probably diesel) F350...
Do you really want tomove back to gas and leaf springs?

"they" make anything if you are willing to pay! Foretravel, Newell, Entegra, and maybe even Tiffin. But you will have a tough time staying under that 26,000 weight limit you have imposed on yourself.

And I think your biggest problem will be finding a true king size mattress in a coach. Most will likely have RV sized king mattress. Easier to find a true queen size mattress, even my 1994 Foretravel has that. But there are many coaches out there that do not have full sized queen mattresses! Many have cut down queen sized mattresses.

For what it's worth, I'd suggest that you not let the "special license" requirement scare you off the larger coaches (which would include just about any diesel). I got my non-commercial Class B license in Maryland, and all it amounted to was a couple of trips to the MVA and passing written and driving tests that you should be able to pass to drive any RV anyway.

Regardless, good luck in your search!

Thanks for the list so far. It will give us a great starting point. The only real problem with all of them is they are missing one of the best features of our 5er, its paid for! Oh well, guess we will just have to skip that feature for a while!

That Sightseer is very nice. They want too much for one here in CA though.

Don't the sightseers have queen beds? Is the king an option?

Edit: I do see now the king is an option. Did not know that, cool.

The Winnebago Adventurer 35P has all the items you're looking for. The Adventurer 32H has everything but the King bed. If the 32H appeals to you ask the dealer to get in touch with the Winnebago factory. Even though the king bed is not on the options list you may still be able to get one. We ordered a passengers power seat which wasn't on the list.

I am not sure what you mean by self-leveling. If you mean air bags that self-level while parked and in transit I doubt you can get that at your weight restriction but could add it for 6 or 7 grand. If you mean jacks the have auto level all of these do. I have the Vista 30T which meets all your needs and with three slides is great. I have added air bags for suspension at a cost of about six grand and love the ride and for another couple of grand could have it self-level. Sightseer and Vista are both a lot of coach for the money.
