Hi folks, Newbie here.
I have an 04 Pacearrow, Refer had always worked great. I was getting ready for a trip and found fridge not working on gas or electric. I checked the fuses on the power board out side and found that a thermal fuse had open and is attached to the flue, when this melts it stops the 12v supply to the circuit board, so I replaced it and all lights are on burner and a/c heaters working in the boiler. Seems to me the ammonia should boil and cooling take place. I haven't operated it un-level that I know of. So do I have a clogged cooling unit, Is there any thing on the circuit board that could cause this?? I checked Ohms on thermistor and got 1,900 at 90 degrees ambient. I also read some post about the cooling fans not working, I don't see the fans in my schematic and I've never heard them, not sure if they are there. This sounds like to me that the thermal fuse did its job and the flue got to hot, this unit has never really ran much on LP, just driving on short trips. Thanks for any wisdom offered!!

Disconnecting the thermistor will allow the fridge to run continuously. You might see some ice start to form on the fins. This will be normal. If so, then your thermistor is bad. My guess is with Doug on this one. If your thermal disc melted, you've got a blockage up top. Not sure if Dometic used rear cooling fans like Norcold but makes sense that they would. I'm guessing birds nest though. Check it out and let us know...Dennis

Thanks everyone, I will check those this morning. Hoping the thermistor is faulty.

1. The Thermal disc should NOT melt. If it did, that means you had a ventilation blockage and that caused the flue to extremely overheat and the Disc did its job. I have NEVER seen the Thermal Disc melt. Trip, yes, but never get heat damaged.
2. You need to verify ventilation up thru the roof and if IN a slide, verify that the AUX rear cooling fans are operating. Doug

Dometic doesn't use a control module (LED light) like the Norcold Recall....so forget about the LED light issue

The thermodisc on flue is used to shut down all dc power to fridge when it senses high temp event

Force cool fridge......unplug thermistor and run fridge on AC overnight.
Check food section fin temps....fins should be at least 30*F or lower

IF food section fins do not cool down then cooling unit has blockage.

If food section does cool down....then thermistor is faulty

I had a NDR1292, but after 12 years it could no longer cool and I replaced it with a residential fridge.

You might try replacing the original controller board with a Dinosaur board.

My guess is that your cooling unit may need replacement. Try these guys.

But first, I suggest you give these two companies a call & describe what's happening with your 1292.

You said the over heat fuse went off. If you have the recall done they installed a black box that was clipped to the cooling coils of the refer. On that black box is a red light. Is it light?

Thanks .OK don't see any discharge of ammonia and I will check venting in the morn.@ hottukibd, I don't understand your question?? I don't have any lights on the cooling pipe. The unit is running on both LP and A/C but no cooling inside the refer at all.

If the thermal over temp went I would check and make sure the flue is clear and the baffle is in place and the upper chimney area is clear not squirrel nest or birds nests pull the top cover and look down from the top. If you have fans you should be able to see them. With that said when testing an RV fridge it is normally done on AC to ensure you are getting a constant temp. It may take a couple of days for it come down in temp. Inspect the boiler area for signs of yellow powder if you see any no matter how small your unit is leaking and needs to be repaired. I put an amish unit in my coach.
