I know you've talked with the folks at Gafney, but have you talked with their free helpdesk?

I would talk to the Help Desk (have your vin number handy), to determine what instrument system you have. The help desk is 1 800 FTL-HELP. The help desk has always been very helpful for me.

From chassis year 1999 to sometime in 2004 was their System III instrument system, which had a vehicle data computer collecting all the data and sending it down the data bus to the "message center" (lots of lights/symbols). From the message center, a spider harness sends all data to all instruments and the instruments get what they need.

The next version was MMDC, used from late 2004 to 2006. I do not know exactly how it works. After 2006, a different system was used.

My point is that not every wrench turner will know what to do to find your problem.

After getting the instrument system identification info, I'd ask them to send the troubleshooting documentation to you. You would at least have this to provide to the person attempting the troubleshooting.

On the instruments, I think you have a bad or corroded connector somewhere in the system. On the System III, I'd be checking the connectors on the VDC, any connectors between the VDC and the message center, and the connector from the message center to the gauges.

If yours is the System III wiring, you can get the technical info/troubleshooting steps from this web site.

I hope this info helps you. Good luck.

Check RVServiceReviews.com for shops in your area or on your travel route. Last place I'd go is Freightliner if I was paying for it.

Your receipts from Gaffney should pretty well state what they did/what you paid them to do. Find another repair shop that has a solid reputation and share your records with them before they do anything.

I did call Gaffney. They will help the local Freightliner shop by telling them what they did but that's all they could do. Gaffney is too far away to take it back there.

I have a problem with the turn signals not holding and my gauges go on and off and alarms sound for low gas. I should add that both of these were fixed at Gaffney and 2 weeks later I'm having the same problems.

The local Freightliner shop in Albany isn't user friendly . No appointments, will be several weeks until we can get around to looking at it, etc. The MH dealer won't work on the chassis. Looking for somebody close as possible that is friendlier toward MH owners. I hope someone in the area has a recommendation.

You still haven't said what exactly is wrong with your coach/chassis or, in need of repair. Depending on what your issues are, you may or, may not need a Freightliner service center. You may just need a truck shop.

Can you be more specific what your needs are, also more information on your MH. A local Freightliner Truck repair shop should be able to handle any of the 'truck' related issues. Don't overlook a local independent truck repair shop that has established a solid reputation.
