duncan RV replacement windshields opinions??

I passed a cattle pot a couple of weeks ago and somehow it threw several rocks. Two of which hit my windshields--one rock each window. what are the odds of that?? Over the years I have had a couple of mh windshields replaced. always with original Winnebago glass. this time I am told the glass will come from Duncan systems which I think is a division of Lippertt (makes axles for 5th wheels) Before I get grumpy with my agent--do any of you have an opinion or experience with these after market windshields from Duncan?? thanks in advance. tom

not sure that is true on the new glass in my Winnebago the Duncan name is on the windshield

It is true. The glass manufacturer can put any name on the glass that is needed by those who order it. As far as I could find out Duncan does not manufacture vehicle glass. Also; Note that one size fits many different coaches. There are not that many different windshield sizes made for RVs.

I have had 4 windshields replaced by Duncan. Two were at rallies and two in their shop in Elkhart, IN. The shop has a football size warehouse with wind shields skidded in racks. Excellent service everytime.

I recently replaced a windshield and the glass came from Coach Glass which I believe is in Oregon.

As others have said Duncan just manages the glass work for the insurance companies and it depends on where you are located as to whether or not you will be happy with the replacement. Duncan systems has replaced 3 windshields for me over 10 years. I had a lot of problems with one local glass shop and the windshield leaked they found me another shop while on the road in another state and they fixed the problem. My suggestion is check out the local shops first and tell them which one you want to do the work.

I had my one piece windshield replaced by an independent company recommended by my motor home dealer. He talked to the insurance company and specifically asked them to obtain the windshield from Duncan. Could not tell the difference between new and old.

ALL windshield glass has to meet DOT specs. It will be stamped on the glass itself. That does not mean that all windshields are the same but the DOT does set minimum standards.
I understand that there are windshields coming over here from China that meet the DOT standard but are a little thinner than the US made windshields.
Because of the small quantity being used, I doubt if there are many RV windshields imported from China but it may be something to ask when you schedule your windshield replacement.
I used RV Glass Solutions for my windshield replacement. They used a local installer and the windshield they used was made in the USA.

I also was sent to Duncan Systems for glass replacement on my Rexhall. The glass arrived at the glass installation company rather quickly. The problem arose when the glass installers cracked the new windshield severely trying to install it. I'm taking it back this week to have them try and get another new one in correctly without damage. Not sure yet who the new one is coming from though. Duncan systems was very pleasant to talk with and kept me informed on the progress of my glass. JMO

I'm not familiar with Duncan and, I did not know Winnebago manufactured their own glass.

Maybe Duncan is all that is available?
