Electric Heater Recommendations?

Hi again,

You all were so helpful with my propane/heater question I thought I would throw out another topic to get some feedback on. I need to decide between radiant/oil filled/ceramic heaters. Any experience with how well each kind heats the coach? And if any difference in energy efficiency between them?

We used our propane catalytic heater for 16+ years. It put out a constant warmth and is very economical.

My wife uses the snuggle method for supplemental heat. Bring on the cold!

Yes oil filled. Was at Costco a couple years ago.

I went to check out the Dyson and thought they must be very high quality after seeing that they are $300.00

Don't know if I can justify the price for how often I use it but then again they may not burn my rig down either. They are probably very good.

They do have a safety recall out. Just noticed it so thought I would post it.

Delonghi Micathermic Panel Heater

No fan, no noise, no flame, no glowing heating element - and you can even hang it on the wall. It is about the size and width of a flat screen TV. We have ours hung on the bedroom wall and have used it for two years. It doesn't heat the bedroom up quickly, but keeps things pretty warm once it reaches a good temp. We pretty much only use it on the low setting. It has a thermostat so it will cycle on and off to maintain temperature.

It also has removable wheels/stand so it can be placed on the floor or moved anywhere you want heat. It is very lightweight and weighs under 10 pounds.

I have had one of the Walmart under $20.00 ones go into melt down. Also had another one start cycling on and off and returned it. Others have mentioned oil filled which I thought might be a good idea but after reading this link I see they have their own issues.

I'm not saying anything bad about any of them but I would say that we are dealing with inexpensive products so you can only expect so much. I will use my remaining $18.00 heater but probably set it on my open oven door as someone on here suggested. If it melts down at least it wont be on the linoleum or carpet and will be LESS likely to start a fire. I may try an oil filled model too. I mean they do manufacture decent dog food and baby toys for us dont they?

We too use the Dyson. Its expensive but its very very quiet and effective. We just hardly ever use the furnace, we do stay in winter friendly places 🙂

I did take a pair of women's nylons and cut the top and bottom of of the leg and slide it over the air intake to help filter the air to keep the enclosed blade clean. I cut it long enough to keep pulling clean material over intake about 4 times. Its surprising how much dust it catches.

You can pay $400 or $15 and they will put out the exact same amount of heat and be equally efficient.

It is currently 24 degrees out and my oil filled heater is keeping my 35 foot a comfortable 68 degrees. I like them and feel safe running them when I am not in the RV. The ceramic heater puts off quick close up heat but would not feel safe leaving it on and not being in the RV.
