You said you tried battery. Which battery?

On my coach the steps are powered by the engine battery.

I see you have a post about Jack's not working also. This suggests that it's electrical. Either dead batteries or possibly a safety interlock problem. Do all the other electric operated devices work?

Mine was dried up grease in the gear box. I dissassembled it, cleaned out the old dry grease, and repacked. Worked ever since.

Did you try the door switch?
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

It would help if you told us what kind of coach you have and who manufactured the steps.
