Europa motorhome

Not sure what class a Europa falls into, but my question is has anyone ever owned one of these and what to look out for. There is one currently on ebay which has peaked my interest.
Europa on ebay

I saw this one has the diesel engine in and would probably get fairly good mileage.

I know it is 20 years old and am aware of the pitfalls of that, but just looking for more information.

Thanks

Thank you Book for the first hand knowledge. At this point I am losing interested anyways. It has been bid up and I am guessing will get much higher in the last hour or two of the auction. For the age and condition there are probably better options.

Thanks again everyone.

years ago, I had a Europa..... looks like the pic of the one you are looking act. Very long overhang..... terrible driver........ lots of sway...... you had to hang on driving on interstates.....
glad to get rid of it...... the chase? was also used for a 26' Xplorer class A .... they dropped it as well....... had a dodge engine & transmission....... I say, "stay away from it".....

I'd really suggest that if you are interested, you go and see it in person.

aside from the chassis questions- all the motorhome systems need an up close and personal review.

all that paint damage from the sun makes me wonder where it's been- vehicles here in AZ look like that...which could mean all the rubber seals, suspension bushings etc etc will be damaged

Good points. According to the add it is a Cummins 5.9 & since it says the transmission was rebuilt I assumed an automatic, but we all know what assumed means. I will send the seller an email and see what the response is.

Also I too am concerned about parts availability for the chassis. I am sure parts in the house are similar to other motorbikes or that an even better replacement could be found or made for that part of it.

So has anyone ever owned or even seen one up close?

I have the Roadtrek in my signature and with the Dodge 318 I get 17+ mpg so the 18 they claim isn't fantastic. They also don't state if it is manual or automatic transmission.

I would want to understand the platform on which it was built. When Mallard started building them, they were on GM P-series chassis, and at a later time I'm seeing them with the 5.9 liter Dodge V-8 (gas). But that was after the first Federal bailout of Chrysler took the company out of the medium duty truck and motorhome/panel van chassis business, so what is it? GM 6.5 diesel, Cummins 5.9 diesel, or something else?

The house portion has a reputation for being fairly well made.
