extended storage question

At the end of this season we will be storing our Class A MH on a seasonal site for next year. We are not going to be going anywhere in it for the entire 2014 season. What are the options for the fuel? Should I still fill the tank and have it sit for 15+ months? I read somewhere that you should add double the amount of stabil for extended periods?? So if I fill it before we set it at the site (in Oct '13)and not going any distance for next year the gas in the tank will sit till April of '15!! Is that bad? and what are our options?? Would Sta-bil be the best for that long?

I don't know if functionally there is a difference. I would have to say I like the looks of the Seafoam can better than the Stabil can.

Unless your leaving the country for a year I would not let your motorhome sit for 12-15 months, your battery's will be dead, your tires could have problems, gas issues, dried up trans gasket, mice, etc, etc, at least go to the storage yard every 60 days and start it and drive it if you can, you won't be happy after 12 months of no use.

I personally like Seafoam..read the can. I had my boat sit for 3 years with a tank of gas. It ran fine.

As already stated above, Stabil for gasoline and a full tank also the batteries will need to go home with you so they can be checked and recharged/watered as needed. Tires should be aired to proper pressure and covered is best. I hope this helps, Bill

Put it on the site in OCT. Cover the tires. Put in the recommended amount of Stabil. Make sure it's sealed up well to keep critters out.

In the spring, I would definitely take it for a drive. At least for an hour or so. Then I would do the same before winterizing it in the fall of 2014. If you are up to doing an additional drive mid summer, it won't hurt either!

Sitting is worse than regular driving for sure, but it's not the end of the world!

Assuming you're storing it in New York, I would think the fuel will be the least of your worries....:E...Tank should be full to minimize condensation if any. Rig should be winterized. The alarm system should be fully functional and loud. Tires will take a beating as will the roof. Make sure you have sufficient "stuff" inside to prevent critters from taking over. They love to chew....mice, squirrels, ants, whatever...good luck...Dennis
