I think you are correct. Our son had an accident that totaled his car. I got a rental car for him and took it to the site where the car was towed. He called EZ-Pass on his cell phone and had the transponder transferred to the rental car for a few days.

We have the I Pass (EZ Pass) from IL, the transponder is easily moved from mh to toad - and both are registered. I need to rent a car for a family event - can I use my transponder in the rental?
It seems likely the rental car would already have one.
