Has anyone gone from a diesel rig to a gasser. If so, were you sorry?

I went from gasser to diesel and have not regretted it other than the cost of Maintenance.

Still being employed full time and having a limited amount of vacation days is why the rush.

A friend of mine once said "I can buy more fuel, I cannot buy more time".

Having said that I'm getting old, and I now find myself driving slower than I used to. :B We'll get there when we get there, no point in stressing about it.
There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.

Wrong post :(. Anyways I always get a kick at all the people speeding I happily drive the speed limit while towing. If I want to get there earlier i simply plan and leave early

rgatijnet1 what a great response. It always seems that the preachers are always right and individuals like us have no idea how to live life.

And speaking of living life on the edge, I am jealous really jealous.

Because I know that my time on earth is limited so why not spend it at my destination instead of behind the wheel. :B

I have always thought people that drive too fast just want to make it quicker to their funeral. Speed kills and driving a 25000# rv at excessive speed is plain foolishness. Probably drive a car length apart at 70 mph as well. See this everyday on the highways and people wonder why there are so many collisions.

Yep, I heard the same thing when I bought my first airplane. I heard it when I raced motorcycles and cars. Heard it when I sky dived and as I did lots of dangerous things. Now, many many years later, I have lived a full life, with great-grandchildren, and according to my recent flight physical, I am in good health and determined to experience all that life has to offer. I know that life does not offer much sitting behind the wheel of an RV.
I realize it is always the other guys that are the dangerous ones when they are driving the speed limit and pass you as you camp out on the interstate. Since I said I travel at the posted speed limit, and you feel that is too fast for you maybe you need to examine whether you belong behind the wheel of a large vehicle. I am tested regularly, are you?

I've had both and have never had any regrets going from gas to diesel or diesel to gas. I've got a few thousand miles behind the wheel of a Liberty Prevost coach so I know what a DP should be. Most DP have a rear engine but they are a long way from being a Prevost. I switch based on the floor plan that we want at the time. We currently have a gas rig but if we find another design in a few months that we like, we may switch again.
We have always made it to the top of any Western mountain while towing with any coach we have owned. We pass some DP's and some pass us, just like on the highway. I travel at the posted speed limit and we are constantly passing other coaches going 55-60 to save fuel. Saving fuel was not the reason why I bought an RV. It was just to get from A to B and enjoy our time at the next location when parked. That is why the floor plan has always been the most important thing with each one of our Class A coaches. If the floor plan doesn't work, the engine is useless.

"Most DP have a rear engine"....and the ones that don't would be a mobile home right?

No, they would be a FRED or front engine diesel. Many were made and may still be being made, especially toy hauler Class A coaches.

We had a 32' Fleetwood Terra gasser with the 8.1 Chevy. It had a ton of power and handled well. I added extra insulation to the doghouse which made it reasonably quiet. I dumped the coach because of the brake issues on the Workhorse and the toilet had a funky offset tank that always plugged.

We went to a 36' DP with a 400 ISL that was a rocket. We kept it for nine years. I loved the power of that coach. Our current coach is 5K heavier, taller and dragging a tag. It's got the torque, but isn't a rocket like my previous coach. With all that said regarding power, I think the DP handling in adverse conditions is a biggee that is hard to give up.

Went from a gasser to a DP then back to a gasser (regretted going back to a gasser. I now have a DP and this is the motor home I will stick with, love it. In fact, just got home from a 3 1/2 week outting, including a week at Quartzsite.

Half the fun of RVing is seeing the scenery, going fast it's a blurr. Getting to the next park is only 1/2 hour longer getting there going 55-60; saves fuel, atmosphere, money, is safer, and more relaxed. What's the rush when your retired or on vacation?

Some people are just type A personalities. We schedule a lot in our vacations, including some distance between stops. We just don't do sitting and looking very well. That's why they make all kinds of coaches.
