Front Seat That Swivels Upgrade W/Pic

I really missed having seats that swiveled like I had on my old
Class A.Now that I have a smaller Class C.
So I looked around and found only one place that sold an aftermarket swivel and found out that another RV.NET poster had done it,thanks scroller95969, so I ordered it and installed it.

This is how it went.

First you remove the seat to expose the seat base.

Then you install the Swivel,This thing is not light. It weighs over 34 lbs.It is made out of 1/8in steel and very sturdy. One note here, some of the holes don't line up and have to be reamed out a little to fit.
I suggest that this is done on a bench and is test fitted before install it is too heavy to be messing with any other way.

The Bolts that are supplied are Grade 8 with NyLock nuts, this thing is not going any where!!
Also in the in the pic you will notice the lift bar that lets you pull up to swivel the seat.It came straight,it is about 5 inches long
and I thought it may pose a hazard so I heated it and bent it 90 degrees so it will tuck under the seat somewhat.
I then installed the seat and this is how it looked before.

And after, giving me more room,an extra seat, and opening up the whole thing.

This is it turned and pushed against the dash with the back upright.

This is it in the full recline position,it may be adjusted to any angle you want of course. Just move it on the slider as you would when it is in it's forward position.

It works both ways for which ever way you want and still swivels to give you as much room that you want.
This mod was for the stock seats but they also make ones for after market and for different brands of RV chassis. It should be noted that it also raised the seat about 2 inches.
I bought this at Shop 4 Seats They also sell swivel bases for other seats
They are made to order, they are not off the shelf items. So if you order make sure that all your measurements are right. They are quite helpful on the phone. It takes about 3 weeks to get them, they are about 15 miles from me so I had them on will call and saved the shipping.
It worked out very well and the seat swivels just great. It is easier to open the door and do the swivel and it misses the dog house and everything just fine.

If you do this Mod, post a picture of yours, so we all can see!

Atwood is now producing swivel seat bases for ForestRiver E350/450 C's. They slide on a 45 degree angle so it clears any obstructions to spin around easy. The seat also remains at the same stock height. No problems with the seat belt cylinder wiring and it does not void any warranty according to their forum. They are just coming out now so I am keeping an eye on these for a possible future purchase.

Nice. Do you know what hardware was used? Did you DIY?

From what I'm gathering, the seat has to be offset to the left to be able to swivel. Is that true? And possibly higher than stock, depending on the hardware.

lowreyfarris,I am glad it worked out and the install looks great!
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Snowman: The hardware used was outlined in the first post in this thread, with pictures,It even tells where it can be purchased.

The seat when bolted to the swivel offsets it about 3/4 inch to the left and raises the seat about 1 3/4 inches. It swivels just fine.

More pictures can be seen on page 3 of the post.

It should work fine in your rig.
If you decide to do this let us know how it works out.
Good Luck.

Sorry Ron can't see any pictures
I see the pictures of the two front seats swivelled. Then I logged out from that forum and returned as a guest. You are right, you can't see the pictures as a guest. You must log in. Funny about that website setup.

I'd post that pic here, but I can't get a clean http:...jpg.

My Aspect on a 2007 E450 chassis was a piece of cake. I did have to extend the wire for the seat sensor, but not a problem. The actual swiveling does require a little maneuvering, but no real problem either. The first one took a few minutes, but if I was to do another it would take about 10 minutes. A very easy and worthwhile project.

Chevy's have more room than the crampy Fords but would like to see someone post pictures and write up for one on a late model Ford E350/E450 with the stock passenger seat and dealing with the wires for the seat belt cylinder.

It does give you a lot more room and opens it up a lot.

As for the swivel it self, if your seat bolts on to the base that is stock then you should have no problem with the stock one but I would measure them just to be sure. They also make one that is for after market seats that have a larger bolt pattern as shown on the same page just scroll down. Here
Mine is the stock # 11615.

The only problem I had was that the holes for the seat were a little off. I used a larger drill bit to open them up and make them fit. This is common from what I have heard from others that have installed them ,it is no big deal.

Like I said before it is easier to test fit the swivel base to the seat while on a bench, then remove it and fit it to the base in the RV,
bolt it down and then install the seat to the swivel.

Good Luck and let us know how it works out.

Thanks again for the new pictures, this looks even better to me.
I unbolted my passenger seat this morning, my base looks like your pictures but my seat is R-Vision after market seat.
My bolt pattern matches your base, I have contacted the swivel base mfg. to see if my seat will swivel and clear the interior.

I'm really looking forward to this mod. as this will give us additional seating with out taking any usable floor space!

Here are some more pictures of the swivel seat.

This is it turned and pushed aginst the dash with the back upright.

This is it in the full recline position,it may be adjusted to any angle you want of course. Just move it on the slider as you would when it is in it's forward position. The swivel doesn't affect that at all.

Wonder if they have a kit for a Ford E-350 05?
I have a 2007 Ford E350. I ordered the passenger seat swivel for ours when new. That swivel base is very common on E350s & E450s. I am sure you will find one with no trouble.
