fuel cards at trucker fueling stations

How does an RVer obtain a card to use a trucker fueling stations like Love, TA, Petra so that you start fueling, walking inside, pay, then leave?

Currently I have to walk in and ask the clerk to start the pump. Not efficient.

BTW, I also have a Pacific Pride fleet card that's good nationwide. X-2, I also have a Pacific Pride card I like the ease of fueling wherever I go, but the DW doesn't like how flexible fuel prices are as Dennis mentioned.

Alright. Glad that's settled and we've totally confused the OP with information he probably wasn't looking for in the first place.

Well done! ๐Ÿ™‚

Correct.

Loyalty Card = Not a credit card.

P/FJ RV Plus Card = A credit card.

Exactly... The loyalty card can be used in conjunction with a "rewards" type credit card for an even larger discount than the Plus charge card provides.

Same for the GS Swipe and Save offer: 3cents. That plus the extra 5% back can add up nicely. We have a PF/J loyalty card, but thought it was just for coffee and shower points. Good to know.

I use my Pilot/Flying J "RV Real Value" card (now called "MyRewards") that carries a smaller discount on fuel than the PFJ/GS card. It's a loyalty card, not a charge card, so I can use it along with my 5% fuel discount PenFed credit card for payment, saving even more than using the PFJ/GS card while still getting the pay at the pump option.

Is the P/FJ "RV Real Value" card a bigger, smaller or the same discount than a GS "swipe and save" discount for just having a regular GS (non P/FJ) card.

My PFJ loyalty card lowers gas prices by $0.03. I don't know how much the GS card lowers them. My PenFed Cash Rewards Visa card lowers the price an additional $0.05 on the dollar credited on each monthly statement, so gas that's posted at $3.00 per gallon costs me $2.82.

An additional advantage of the "myRewards Card" is the other discounts that come with it, such as 10% off meals at participating Denny's restaurants, mostly the ones at PFJ locations not surprisingly.

Anyway, after re-reading the OP's post, I think he's looking more at something like a Fleet Card.. I've used only a work-related one so I don't have any first-hand knowledge of having/getting one for personal use.

There's also a "Swipe and Save" discount you can get by using just a plain GS membership card. It can apparently be used with any payment type (such as PenFed CU that gives 5% cashback.)

I was wondering if Swipe and Save is bigger/smaller/different than the other poster's "Rewards card" discount, which, is again different than the PF/J credit card.

It's getting a little confusing, all these offers.

What I do is use the card and get the bill via email...now if goes over 1000 (which I do keep track), then I go online and pay the bill on their website...never had a problem doing that...a real six cents off the cash price and pump start and never having to go inside....

I too pay my Pilot/FJ card by my CC which gives me another 5% discount on all fuel charges. So I get the .06 cents off at the pump, and then the additional 5% off the total price when I pay my monthly bill.

However, that said..... I mostly use the Pilot/Flying J fuel stations for the convenience of being able to get in and out without any hassle. The discounts on price is just an added feature as far as I am concerned.

The Flying J/Pilot/GoodSam card is a credit card. You can elect to have it direct debit from your checking account, as Mark described, OR you can elect to have it billed monthly like a regular credit card. The only hitch is it must be paid in full each month. It also has a $1000/mo limit unless you contact them to have that limit increased. Ours is $2500. It has the pump start feature and you do not ever need to go inside the store unless you want to.

Here's what we do:
1. Pull up to pump.
2. Insert card..activate pump start..
3. I pump while DW goes inside.
4. When done, I text her with amt so she can verify and get a receipt.
5. I pull forward, but she's usually coming out by then.
6. She also activates and pays for the weight ticket if I'm weighing.
7. Save 8 cents off the CASH price.
