The people who write the programs for the GPS are not going out to every street and looking at them to see what's suitable for trucks and what isn't. They are looking at laws and designated trucks routes and things of that nature. Even though a road may be narrow, if it's legal for a big rig to operated on it then the GPS may very well route you down it.
