help with travel for 43' 13 ' class A

We are making our first trip. Worried about tunnels and accommodations for
43 foot length and tall height

T/B, the streets in Darien can get fairly narrow and most have low hanging tree branches.....they are all tree hungers here
the only RV campgrounds I can think of is in Madison or Thomaston..each about an hour drive not counting traffic.....you might research mobile home parks ,they will at time have an rv spot or 2...one in Orange ,Ct will have one that cuts your drive and their is one in Westport ,Ct on Rt 1..or East State st in the 1700 or 1800 block might help you..Chuck

Norwalk Ct. is the worst place we have ever been in the coach to drive the narrow streets.

Stay off of CA Hwy 1. 101 is just fine. There's a BIG difference.

Get the allstays app for your phone! It's ten bucks and well worth it.
We are out for months at the time and my wife/travel agent has every night booked before we roll. She uses allstays and rvpark reviews as the primary tools

One "gotcha" is that, sometimes, when a road is resurfaced, it gains an inch or more and the clearance signs don't get updated.

In 15+ years of 12+ height only twice have I had a bridge too low and I only use common sense to avoid them.

In the same time I've not had a problem finding sites big enough for 40+ and we usually stay in a FHU CG only one day a week on the weekend...5 days in a USFS CG and one day on the road.

The only size problem we have ever had with the 40' motorhome was the narrow streets back east. Some of the towns were build for ox carts and you can't make the turns.

Co-pilot RV has routing around low clearances. Just put in your height.

On any GPS always set it to use the fastest route, not shortest route. This should keep you on the big roads most of the time.

13 ft is not that high you certainly will not have a problem on the interstate highways

For extra protection on weight and height I have a Garmin RV GPS

I would be more concerned about weight than height

Biggest threat, my opinion, are low hanging branches once you exit the highway or interstate.

Sections of US 1 big rigs including RV's beyond a certain length are not allowed. I have traveled the western states for the past 13 years, no issues. Just stay on interstates and primary roads. Purchase Mountain Directory East and West. It will show routes and warnings.
