A friend hs a 36 ft bounder and tows a Honda Fit. They have had the Fit for about a year and bought the 2012 Fit used with 800 miles on it.
On the Fit, they have had to replace 5 tires in a year. they went out to AZ and CA for the winter. Tire places say low profiel tires are very sensitive.

any one else experience tire problems with towing a Honda Fit.

thanks.

One driving technique that will really scrub rubber off the fronts is to turn the steering wheels of the RV while stopped then take off. It drags the front of the toad sideways before the tires can start rolling. Many gas coaches have long overhangs which excacerbates the problem.
Start rolling on a straight line THEN turn your steering wheel.

Saying it had to have the tires replaced after a year doesn't really tell us anything. How many miles was it driven and/or towed during that year? I towed a Fit (sport)for probably 10,000 miles and didn't notice any unusual tire wear.

We have a 2008 Fit that we bought used three years ago. It had new BFG tiger paws on it when we got it and has been towed over 20,000 miles plus driven over 15,000 miles and the tires do not show a lot of wear. It has been towed from Ontario to the RGV twice and Tucson AZ once as well OH and IN several times. Also to Quebec City , PEI and around the Gaspe Peninsula. Do they have a towd break that is coming on when it shouldn't. The Fit is light so it would not be hard to pull even if the breaks are partly on.

Are they towing the car four down two down or on a trailer. If towing the car with all wheels on the ground (4 down) how many miles was it towed and how many miles driven

Cindy, the Honda Fit comes with 2 different size of tires! The Honda Sport has the large size tires and the Honda Fit Basic comes with the smaller tires. Do you know if your friends Honda Fit is a Sport or the Basic?
