How do you deal with trash?

Do you have a trash can that you put... Where?

Do you hang a bag somewhere?

I thought I had it bad finding a place for a small can in our trailer.

Can't figure this one out and am hoping there might be a few good suggestions. We have a Roadtrek 170.

We have a 92 road trek 190 versatile and cupboard space is at a premium. There is space for a small "bucket" lined with grocery bag on the bottom shelf by the pump though. We bought several inexpensive bins from the dollar store for clothes storage and one fit perfectly for garbage in this space. Has to emptied daily but that's no biggie to us.

I like minimizing trash before it hits the RV. For example, cereal goes into plastic containers, disposable bowls and such get unwrapped and stacked, shampoo goes into the dispenser in the bathroom, sugar, salt, etc. go into their appropriate containers. Then, I toss all the packaging away before I leave the store.

For trash in general, I try to use plastic shopping bags. The reason is that if I stopped at a gas station and tossed 1-2 of those in a trash receptacle, nobody would really care. If I tossed a full size 30 gallon garbage bag, it would get people complaining about abuse.

Thanks all for the great ideas!

We ended up getting the Skinny Waste Can:

since it was blue - matches our interior and it's skinny. Holds one grocery bag perfectly - and if there is a leak it can be washed.

Thanks garmp1 for the idea. ๐Ÿ™‚

And - Road-Trekker - I'm enjoying checking out your mods - thanks!

We made a hook that we hang on the drawer in the galley part and then use shopping bag.

Also with a tub... Okanagan, Airstream, GWV, Holidaire, ones with the high tops and rear bath seem to have bathtubs.
For trash I use a binder clip to hold a plastic bag to the seat belt retractor on the passenger seat while driving and while camping.

Small wastebasket goes under the sink, lined with plastic grocery bag. Anything that can be recycled goes into another plastic bag hanging from a peg or door handle. Trash gets carried to the dumpster daily, or more often, in campgrounds or RV parks.

Hi Folks,

I hang a store plastic bag, which
I store in a cloth tube, on the right armrest of the drivers chair. When it fills up, or we stop at a store or gas station, we leave it in a trash can. Sometimes we have more than one.

Heapie.

Re-used grocery bag tucked in the fabric pouch on the back of the passenger seat. Wife prefers a hanging bag by the toilet area.

For those curious, 1990's Coachmen B vans had a style with a rear bathtub, so yes, there is such a thing as a Class B bathtub (ours has the rear dinette/bed instead).

Nope... Don't have anything similar, except the aisle.

And thanks, NCWriter - It does make a differnece...

OK, let me rephrase? Toilet room. "B's" do have toilets don't they?

Buy some heavy-duty Command hooks. Find the best places you can and hang plastic grocery bags from them. I can't be more specific without seeing your rig.

I have a 170. I use regular grocery bags inside a collapsable (waterproof fabric) bucket, in case of leaks. Also use this bucket to load a couple gallons of clean water into my grey and black tanks after I dump my tanks.

While traveling, I'll hang the garbage bucket off the passenger flip-up armrest, or put it on top of the toilet (so the dog won't get it) if I leave the van. I also keep a large ziplock bag in a door cubby for dry driving garbage.

While camping, I hang the bucket off the driver's flip-up armrest, or put it up the dash. Lastly, I keep used paper or plastic cups in my plastic sink tub for the really gross/wet food stuff garbage, and sometimes inside a ziplock if it's smells.
