How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Mark aka White Knight

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

Smaller diameter tires will raise your RPMs, not drop them. (The smaller tires will have to turn more times to go the same distance.)

I have a '78 Honey w/ 360 motor in it. I've had it for 2 years & my cousin had it for a few years before that. She got it from my grandpa who bought it new.

Its special to me since my grandparents were retired they had plenty of time to take me camping in the summer & i was the youngest grandchild so by the time I was able to go camping all the other grandkids didn't really want to go with there grandparents anymore. So it was just me & them.

No sense in hiding. We WILL find you ...;-)

Get that thing inside and Eternabond it.

Just bought 3 rolls (dirt cheap) from ebay and can't wait for spring.

Hi everyone.
I have a 77 Dodge delta 360 2bbl (carb) I have owned it since April but just got it up to my parents house to store it and get it ready for a trip south around Feb 08. It is is good shape with a few leaks that have shown up top. The leaking is easy to feel since it has gotten cold and just knocking on the siding can give you a solid feeling of frozen water. I was cleaning it up this past Sunday thru Tues. I have been following this forum for about a year and have really enjoyed the mood here. Just figured I would let you know I have been hiding in the Backround.

Hi Trish

Love the new place! I'll send you pics of the Christmas montage going on! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The weather? BITES! 5" of blowing snow Saturday, then it rained creating a replica of the glacial landscape this area once was, causing many aches trying to shovel and move the crap. Another several inches last night, also blowing, causing many drifts and poor visibility. Also causing some interesting slippery spots ontop of the glacier already in place.

...and it's only the first week of December, only 6 more months to go! :B

I still have to get the MH over here, I hope those old, cracked lug tires work in the snow! Well, I hope it'll even START in these temps! First things first, ya know! ๐Ÿ˜‰ At least I drained the water system and actually put antifreeze into the radiator...

Hotel Travco coming along nicely?

EDIT: Howdy to you too, Leeann! You snuck in here while I was rambling away! Happy December to all!

The frame runs directly under the seat. Thinking about welding a plate to the frame that the bolt will go through. Probably going to get a professional to actually do the install. I might go see what the dealer wants for the frame. I assume since they can be found in the newer units, I may be able to find one prefabbed. Then again that might cost as much if not more than having a welding shop build it for me and install it. Another option would be to drill through and go through a plate (glorified huge washer) maybe 6"x6". My wife talked to the authorities and was told what gauge of metal and such was required.

Take a look at how seatbelts are fastened in most cars and trucks.

It's the secondary impact rather than the initial impact that causes injuries. Seatbelts are designed to prevent that secondary impact by keeping occupants secure following the initial impact.

Like helmets, seatbelts cannot prevent injury ... they serve primarily to reduce injury severity in an accident. Both do best in low-speed impacts - at higher speeds, they should use the same principle used in race car design ... absorb energy through sacrificial disintegration.

Using that principle, it's be okay for the seatbelts to "rip loose' in a high speed crash, as long as they slow the occupants significantly before letting go.

The force required to rip a 1/2" bolt, backed by a large diameter washer, through a piece of 3/4" plywood is very significant. Your 6" x 6" backing plate should be more than ample for the task.

BTW - most of the steel in light and medium duty truck frames is 3/16" thick ... the only place I'm using 1/4" steel is in the body brackets and that's only because the Energy Suspension universal mounts are designed for 1/4" thick material. (It's easier to use 1/4" stock rather than shim up for thinner stock.)
