How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Well... We did some more work on it this weekend. I've got 7 screws I can't get out for the love of me. Once they're out, then we can start fixing the framing and the floor... I'm pretty much at the turning point where she can start going back together.

As for my complaint delimma. I think I mentioned I checked the codes, and in my driveway, there's not a )(*& ting they can say about it. It the fact that I'm working on it, and to do so I have to "partially dismantle" it. I still ahven't been able to get a hold of anyone from the city. But for a possible quick fix, I temporarily put the windows back in and parked it in front of the house for a while to sweep off the roof. Then drove it around the neighborhood for a while, before backing it into the driveway. Previously, I had it parked headed in... if an inspector comes by again... it's obviously moved and is opperable. lol. Unfortunately I had to throw the tarp over it again as the leak repair is still in process. But at least that's on the back end that's no longer facing the street.

We'll see.

I think Good Sam has some kind of legilative commitee that can help...go to home page and start a search. Also, because my wife has handicapped tags on the RV it can legally be parked about anywhere (except in front of fire hydrants) Also, most older communities have restrictions pertaining only to length...25 feet or under are exempt no matter what they are. Also as long as it is "moveable" (not on Jacks) with tires inflated...you are generally allowed to do you own repairs in your own driveway. Another point...if the RV is behind your house behind a 6' privacy fence and on a parking pad...and they still complain they can be charged with invasion of privacy.

Hello again. It's been quite some time since I've been on the site. I now have the '74 B300 - The Establishment - Motor Home. I first posted way back in 9/30/07. It has a 360 V8 and everything in the coach works. The coach is a little "rough, but like I say, it all works, even the roof air-conditioner. Any way... Nice to see all the people writing in about the Dodge class "C" motor Homes as well as Dodge Class "A"'s. I've been on and reading from time to time over the past several months. Lots of great information. We plan on our first outing (as owners, not borrowers) in July. We're going "Horse" camping for an extended weekend (3 days) up the Big Bear area here in Southern California. Specifically to the Heart Bar area if any one knows where that it. Most of our camping will be "Horse" camping, but some will be without the horse and trailer. I do have a question though about automatic transmissions. Does any one out there know if the O/D automatic transmissions from the early/mid 1990's will bolt into a 1974 B300 with a 360 V8? I know it will need to have additional wiring added for the O/D, not a problem. The O/D might me nice when not towing the horse trailer. Also.... a note to "oslotaxi" (and every one else). I feel fortunate, most of our neighbors have been there long term like us. The guy next door is a good guy, one accross the street has a class c, next to him parks his boat on the street alot, etc etc.... so we don;t have anyone trying to cause problems... good luck with your situation..

I am absolutely furious right now...

The neighborhood I live in has been very laid back, and up till a couple years ago used to be occupied by a bunch of good ole boys... working on their cars, bikes, boats... etc. A few new people have moved in, and now, it seems there's always a problem. The latest problem. My RV.

It has been reported to the city as a "nuisance". One of the new neighbors found one of those little phrases lawyer politicians like to use for future litigation to to twist the codes to their favor. The phrase... "partially dismantled". Just what is partially? Taking ANYTHING off a vehicle makes it "partially dismantled" no?

Since I have 7 days... I have half a mind to park the RV on the street in front of said neighbors house for 6 days, then pull it back in my driveway for 6 days, then park in back in front of their house for 6 days... my driveway for 6 days... and repeat ad nauseum.

Fortunately... I did research earlier, and there is nothing they can do about it parked in the driveway. They just found a technicality because I removed a part. Arrrrgh.... freakin' neighbors. 2 years ago there were three other gear heads within shouting distance. You would walk from one to another without your fresh cold beer breaking a sweat even on a summer day...

The sad truth about these older motorhomes is that not many original buyers kept much of the information provided to them. So, finding information on a specific model is difficult, if not impossible.

This group right here (us on this thread) will be your best bet!:B I know, I know! Little consolation... 😉 Keep searching the net. I would almost assure you that there is a group or two out there somewhere that is dedicated to your model.

As far as the chassis goes, we all can help with that part, since a Dodge chassis is pretty much a Dodge chassis, regardless of the house bolted to it.

And am I Nordic? No sir, I am on the south-east end of Wisconsin, which makes me a Polish/German/Irish man! You know, the ones that eat too much fried pork, drink too much beer, and are dumb enough to buy an old Dodge motorhome! :B

Oh come on, you KNOW I'm simply jesting here! 🙂

I have mopar friends in Switzerland, Australia, Germany, Japan, and England that I buy parts for locally, then simply ship them over to them. They send a reimbursment via VISA through PayPal (letting PayPal and the CC companies deal with the exchanges), and it works out pretty well! Because they are friends, there is no profit to make, and the dollar amounts work out close enough for me to be comfortable with.

And, for the effort, Kimberley and I have all kinds of "free" abroad vacation destinations! :B

I know rockauto.com ships internationally, but I've never looked there for parts for my MH. NAPA has parts for our rigs, but often you have to talk to the counter guy to look them up in the catalog as opposed to the computer.

In other words, I'm not really sure where to get them in Norway...but welcome!

Hey Johnny! Welcome!

If you are needing parts (and possibly a factory service manual for the chassis), some members here may be able to assist you in obtaining these. Also, register at www.moparts.com and see if you can find some of those Mopar folks in your own homeland (I know there are some). Between these two sites, you will be in good shape to get/repair/troubleshoot just about anything on your RV!

Can any one head me in the right direction when it comes too spare parts for the M-500 chassis ?

Hello All, I am new to the RV Scene. Bought a 1979 Dodge Tioga Class C. I have had one thing after another trying to get the thing smogged. Finally passed after I caved and took it to the mechanic. Turned out just needed a carb tune up. I took it on a short trip after which it melted a spark plug wire. Replaced and was on my way running not so great. Replaced plug in question tonight and notied the number 8 wire also was melting around the boot. Now I am really concerned. Number 6 and 8 are running extremely hot and melting wires. I doubt I will make it to my next destination of any distance without melting more wires. Could it be my exhaust manifolds are bad, clogged or something? Anybody else have this problem? PLease help!
