How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Uhm...where's the grill? I only ask because I have a vested interest in steak.

Alas, because of the Big Box, I can't have any such contrivance on the Travco. I've got the generator, bottles and water tank in the rr. Toting extras is what that little fiberglass trailer (wish that fella'd mail me back) will be for.

Is the new trailer ready yet because the old wagged like a dog's tail.

Dunno what the white stuff is, but do know you had better get that thing OFF the grass.

Moisture /condensation from the grass will eat holes in your fuel line, brake lines, trans lines and trans cooler lines.
That moisture will also hasten the rust of your cab floor and entire frame.

No, really.

Get a big (10x20 at least) tarp, drive your C over it and you will save yourself thousands of dollars and lots of headaches.

Basically, the bf used threaded rod and a couple nuts on each side to extend the single tire carrier into a double.

And we pull a trailer with 2 kneel-down raceboats, 2 complete outboards, toolbox with tools, fluids, spare parts, a spare for the trailer...all without much of a problem. But again, we have a 440 and only a 20' RV. We do have to watch tongue weight as the rig tends to get the wags (ask Trish about that one), but if we keep the tongue reasonably light it's fine.

We are, however, building a new race trailer. The 'new' one is double axle and has surge brakes, plus we're putting the boats up front and the motor/toolbox at the back for better weight distribution. This should help with the wag.

I have noticed moisture on the floor in the cab only of my MH. There is no ceiling leaks etc.

Could it be it has been parked since November?

It is parked on grass. Could the morning dew just be causing it?

Leeann's got 2 spares on her Concord. Remember, she and I have budd rims on our As and your Cs don't --they have budds on the rr, not the frt. Different chassis and that.

Pic of the rear of her Concord will give you a good idea.

My rims are like Power's... different on the front than on the back. My spare is the same rim as the fronts. I have found a rim same as the duals but not sure how to rig it up to carry both spares... has anyone done this?

I pull a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer filled with my race stuff and don't even know it's back there. But then again I have the 440 in mine...

All six of my rims are the same. The fronts aren't any different, They're just not doubled... ??

I've towed a 16' trailer with 2-4 wheelers, a generator, a 3'x1.5'x8' box full of firewood and a few other odds and ends on it without any problems with mine and the 360 in it.....Jerry

And, you are correct about spidered gel-coat. Nothing you can really do to fix it without really fixing it. Even bed-liner won't do the trick in this situation...

6-bolt, 7 1/4" centers.

Yep, cracked gel-coat is insert-nasty-epithet-here.
I cannot possibly afford to have it done properly. West System will fix a lot of the issues (busted bit under the step, Big Box, etc) but to do the entire Travco with it --too expensive!

Short answer is "it depends."
Leeann tows with her Concord that's got the 440 /727.
I will tow with my Travco (but less weight) with the 318 /727.

Word: stay away from any late 70's Chrysler lean-burn, especially the 400.

I am new to the forums, and absolutely love these old dodge motor homes. My question is if anybody uses them for towing? I would like to pull a couple of 4 wheelers behind mine, if i decide to buy one. Also, what could I expect to pay for one?

I'm giving away my 16.5's. I promised them to a woman up north who needs them for a trailer (which makes no sense to me), and if she finds they are incorrect, you guys can have them! 4 dually and 2 conventional (per old Dodges).
