KING REPLACEMENT HD ANTENNA

Has anyone else replaced their wine-guard windup antenna with one of these. It says something about power, mine dosen't have power going to it so how would i pull this off.

I'm getting ready to replace my batwing with a King. I can't stand the sound of it chattering going down the road. Super annoying. I never use it anyways.

if the fuse is fine you might need to cycle the switches a few times. I get that same thing on my TV if I forget to switch from the DVD back to ANT maybe yours is sticking.

As I recall, the "BOMB" (Box Of Many Buttons) pictured turns the 12-VDC power to the antenna on when you select "ANT" as the signal source. Any other choice turns it off.

There is a 3 amp fuse behind mine. I have no switch either I think it' powered by that box.

I would say It's not getting 12 volt power somehow . if there is no switch and it's "on all the time" it doesn't make sense there must be a switch somewhere otherwise your cable reception would be all messed up

Good info. I do have a question about my system. It is the Winegard Batwing with the additional attachment. It supposedly receives its power from the black switch box which is always on (no on/off switch). I'm lucky to get two channels in town on the front TV. The rear TV and outside TV gets a message on screen saying signal TOO week. Is that the antenna or maybe the switch box not really getting and providing 12VDC?

Just put a king on last week or so. Went from 22 channels (batwing) to 39 channels in the city. Most of the new ones are spanish speaking stations! We will see if it helps on the road or not. Easy swap out, looks nifty too.

Since HDTV is being transmitted and the OP wants an antenna to receive it, who cares what you call it? I know some of the HAMS are fanatical about antennas and always correct everything that anyone else says about an RV antenna, but who cares about the terminology. The OP, and MOST everyone else only wants to receive a signal which, as you say, a piece of wire will work. The King works better than a wire. :R

I replace the bat wing with a jack antenna a few years ago. Cracked the amplifier housing and the amp got wet allowing the magic smoke out. No new channels I never saw before but the jack doesn't appear to be as directional sensitive as the bat wing. I'm not having to re-aim the antenna as much after changing channels. Also the jack has an LED on the bottom of the antenna so I can see that the amplifier has power easily. I only got the antenna head piece that working with the crank up bat wing rig which only set me back about $40 or so.

You can use a piece of wire for an antenna and it will receive HD if the TV station is transmitting HD. No antenna receives HD unless it is being transmitted ie no such thing as a HD antenna.

I believe the ad says that the antenna is for HDTV, which it is. You can receive certain channels that are broadcasting HDTV network programing, which is probably what the OP is trying to do.
