I just installed my koni fsd's, but one thing that is bothering me is that there are no covers over the shaft on the rears. Thsee are part numbers are 8805 1019(for my 2004 f53 chassis). Has anyone found the need to install covers?

They are not cheap. But the improvement in ride and handling on our Class C Chevy was well worth it. I have never before gotten this kind of improvement out of a shock absorber upgrade.
Currently RV-less but not done yet.

Same here - I tossed the brand new Ford OEM shocks and replaced with Koni's. I also added the Safe-T-Plus steering stabilizer. Dramatic difference in ride.

Nice! I just bought my coach and noticed a harsh ride with the Bilsteins that were installed. Thought I give koni a shot before the wife wants a diesel with air suspension. I did notice that the dust covers were filthy on the Bilsteins that I took off...that's why I was curious if I should install them on the koni's. I too have the super steer track bar on the rear, along with air bags. I also just purchased the safe t plus. My goal is to be able to make the wife as comfortable as possible if I every need her to drive...which is a stretch goal.

I put Koni's on front and rear of my ACE 30.1 and noticed the same thing. The rear shocks don't have dust covers. I contacted Koni about is and they said that was intentional and being uncovered was not an issue because of their wiper system. Picture of one of my rear shocks is attached.

My chassis is a 2016 F53 and it looks like they eliminated the dust covers for clearance reasons. I first attempted to (incorrectly) use a front shock and found that there wasn't clearance for a dust cover. When I got the right shock, there was no problem. The uncovered section of the shock is pretty high up in the frame and I don't think much will get up there.

The OEM Bilstiens did have plastic dust covers but I didn't check if there was a clearance issue with them when I took them off. They are pretty narrow relative to the Koni's

I love the improvement made by the Koni's - no more porpoising when going over road dips, bridge expansion joints, etc, and way more control. I also put a SuperSteer rear Track Bar on at the same time I did the Koni's.

Caught my attention also but I've gone a year (7000 miles) now without problems.
