Anyone have this model? We are downsizing from the sold motor home to camper van and this one is for sale. What should we be looking at in the unit? What kind of gas mileage does it get? We want twin beds or a back bed that can be made into a full bed. Thanks.

Thanks, escargot and island man. We are still thinking about doing this. The lady selling says it gets 18 mpg and we doubt that. I forgot to be more specific for the benefit of my husband what kind of engine. Dodge but which one. We'll sort this out yet. Also drawbacks to buying an older model??

Until last fall, we owned a real nice 2001 PW Excel on the 1 ton Dodge chassis; never had any problems including handling issues. The PW was a well-made unit and we usually got 14-15 mpg at 55-65 mph. Only reason we don't have it now is that we needed something a little bigger so purchased a 23 ft. Class C, main advantage of the C is that the bathroom is bigger and kitchen is a bit larger too. Kind of miss the fuel economy and ease of parking of the PW though. You won't go wrong buying a used PW, they are well built and factory assistance is readily available if you have any questions or need help.

If you're buying a previously owned Pleasure-way, no doubt the handling and other issues were handled early on. When I bought my new-to-me 2003 PW Excel TD, V8, Dodge chassis, the previous owner had already added the wheel spacers. Never had any handling problems.

They are GREAT RVs!

Good luck.

Charles, I see you bought a new model. How do you like that one? Attractive but much money for new ones. That's why we are looking for older. I'll check gaskets and all and drive it also ahead of making a decision.

We had a 2001 Pleasure-Way Lexor TD on a Dodge chassis. We had the handling problem but solved it with wheel spacers. Do drive it on the highway if it is a Dodge to be sure. Otherwise it was a great unit, never had a problem with it. Your looking at a 14 year old unit so check for signs of leaks as gaskets do start cracking from age. Test all of the systems as though you are spending a day boon docking in it. Gas mileage will be 13 to 15 with a Lexor, a little less if its a Excel model. Driving speed makes a big difference in mpg with these.

Is yours on a Dodge chassis? We have a 2000 Coach House on the 1 ton Dodge and love it. Bed is twin or King. Some of the Dodge vans had handling issues, so check into that if it is a Dodge.
