New Class C

So we are trading in the TT for a Sunseeker 3010. Any must have accessories that we need for the class C that we probably did not have for the TT?

Thanks,
Amy

It might not hurt to consider installing skid wheels on the hitch if this is something that happens often. Of course, the skid wheels lower clearance, but it helps mitigate any damage.

Some people buy/build an insulated curtain or divider between the cab part of the "C" and everything else. This coupled with some Reflectix under the mattress in the cabover does help keep things warm/cool when parked somewhere for a few days.

If in place for a while (weeks or more), 3M sells a kit that has clear plastic film in it and double-sided tape. I'd buy this and use it to seal the windows, giving dead air space. With a hair dryer, the sheeting will shrink, so it isn't as obtrusive. This can help immensely with keeping warm/cool.

Another thing to consider would be a Trik-L-Start device which will keep your starting battery charged from the house batteries if you are parked somewhere for a long time.

When we traded our 22' TT I took all of my accessories to the new C. Wheel chocks, bottle jack, jack stands tools etc. Don't forget the sewer and water hoses. You will probably find that your new C has a lot more storage so be careful not to get carried away filling it up as it is easy to do.

Your generator will run so long as you have at least 1/4 of a tank of gas. Hopefully the C comes with the 55 gallon tank as the extra range really comes in handy. There is a good discussion whether or not to get a toad currently in progress but at 30+' you will probably want one eventually. Try a couple of trips first as not all of us have the "need".

Once you have it loaded for a typical trip take it down to the scales and get your weights(front and rear axles and total). Use these to air the tires to the appropriate psi for the load they re carrying and you will find it rides and handles much better. Watch out for steep driveways and gutters as the back end can easily drag if you aren't careful (don't ask me how I know). If you take them at a wider angle, avoid 90 degrees, you can usually clear and while the dragging of your hitch is a terrible sound it usually does no damage. :C

When I had a class C, I had a Reflectex-like windshield cover as well as a curtain that attached to the sunvisors and around the cab on the inside and a snooze bonnet on the outside. When it was really cold, we hung a quilt under the bunk down to the floor to keep the cold air from the cab about of the camper. This made it harder to use the cab for storage, so it was not a permanent set up.

Your generator is fed by the chassis gas tank, right? It probably shuts off when the gas tank reaches 1/2 full or some other level. Be mindful of this!

Also, load balancing is important. Pay attention to where the wheels are and where you store heavy stuff. If you load up behind the wheels, you will feel it going down the road. Figure out what you need to take with you and analyze your inside and outside storage options carefully. This always takes reworking after a few trips.

Did you keep the same color scheme as you had with your tailer and does having things match matter to you? This can be expensive! We went from brown to teal to green and mauve to blue to adding a second camper with brown and have accented it with red. You may want to keep your old stuff until you decide what you need and have space for before you go replacing everything with a new, different colored version.

I looked at this floor plan at an RV show last February and really liked it. I hope it works well for you and that you enjoy it.

That's an ADCO cover. We don't have the Zipper one, just a total cover, but I gotta say, it's OLD but still in great shape. We usually use it in storage between trips. Made a cover out of privacy screen using it as a pattern, for camping use.

For cold weather (or even very hot weather) you may find you need a way to cordon the cockpit off from the rest of the coach. We just do it with a wool blanket.

One of THESE

Keeps the sun out when the panels are closed, also privacy, and lets the sun and view in when they are open. Click on more images to see what they look like.

Just an example, they make them for all kinds of makes and models.

We just went from a TT to a Sunseeker 3010ds also. The only "must have" for me with the MH was a toad. Congratulations, and hope you love your new 3010.
