New Travato model, 59K

Looks like Winnebago introduced a new Travato model, the 59K. It has the kitchen up front, two fold-down couches for twin beds, and the bathroom is in the back... where if ventilation is a problem, one can open the two rear doors while using the commode or shower. The fridge is on the small side, but usable. The floor plan is quite open, especially with the bathroom in the back, although wardrobe space might be at a premium, since there were no full height cabinets.

(Edited again -- more info)

Here is one cool thing: Truma is selling more than their propane gauge in the US now. This Travato model has a Combi model water heater and furnace, which works on both gas or electric.

No info link provided on public Travato pages on Winnebago website, but a Google search turned up the 105-page owners manual for the two models of Travato. Still not real informative, but at least has specs on tank sizes and such as well as instructions and photos to operate various features.

link to the manual

Battery is AGM. Photos do not make it clear whether there is room for a second battery.

The manual does not mention the existence or location of any 12V outlets; it does give locations of the 110 outlets. This bothers me. I use 12V extensively for dry camping, for charging my technology, and for running my CPAP machine at night.

We have a large NovaKool in our new GWV Legend. It is whisper quiet. Another big advantage is that there is no need for external venting. No more big ugly vents. Plus, it does not have to be level to work.

this is a new video of the 59k. much more thorough then the first one

Not too bad. I like the rear bathroom which is quite functional. I wonder about the fridge on battery or hydro only and no gas. One battery would get drained fast when fridge is running unless there is a second battery/generator. Charging by engine alternator is ok on the road but not when dry camping which would be a problem. A solar panel would help. Am I missing something.

the 59k has a novakool compressor fridge. it only draws about 4 dc amps as opposed to the 12 volt burner on a 3 way which will use up a battery in a couple of hours.

That would explain it. Do those compressor fridges make as much noise cycling as did the old-time ones in RVs? I am a light sleeper. Also, I think ALL new RVs should have two AGM batteries, at least. I find ours at 90amps to be marginal.

erip-is 100 percent correct. a low draw 12 volt compressor fridge does use far fewr amps.

I do think that any rv van should have 2 batteries-i have no idea why travato only has one.

i think the 59k is terrific and is a very good 2 person van.

however it's support systems still make it a vehicle that needs to be plugged in often.

What you're missing is that it's a novakool fridge which is a 12 volt compressor fridge. The are very efficient. Wish they had put one in my travato

Wow. I did not realize until now that the video gerrym51 posted was different. Now I really like this van. Super with diesel option available but doesn't mention generator , right?

Notice this AVIDA Escape, released about two years ago. Notice the Skif boat on the roof, the space for a motorbike to be loaded. Guess Winnebago got some ideas from the local manufacturer

Well, they all have copied features and ideas from European Ducato vans. There is a deep parts supply from Europe. Frankly, I don't care where good ideas come from, as long as they are made available.

I do like that motorbike ramp. Not sure I'm brave enough to ride my bike up into the van. At 500 lbs, she's not too heavy to carry, but definitely would need a wheel chock and some tie-down eyes mounted.

True, but I have noticed how some aspects of AVIDA, which used to be Australian Winnebago, have turned up in the US Winnebagos but are not really all that European

It looks like the shower is in the rear center. What is on the rear passenger side? Is that storage?

I like the flip down bathroom sink. Why waste space on space on a dedicated sink in class B.

That Avida Escape has an interesting opposing flared twin bed design to give more width for the shoulders.
