I don't know how many of you remember me but 5 years ago I purchased a 1995 Newmar 37 foot motorhome with the intention of traveling with my husband when I retired. He had Parkinson's and could not drive so I quickly learned how to maneuver my Lucy. I love driving her and we began camping around southern Wisconsin. I talked my sisters and their husbands into buying travel trailers so all three couples could go as often as we could on the weekends.

Sadly, my beloved husband of almost 50 years passed away from complications of Parkinson's and bone cancer in late August.

My first time out was with my wonderful sisters and it was very difficult for me. He always enjoyed riding shotgun with me and being taken care of in the motorhome. It was wonderful having all the amenities of home here on wheels that we had for him at home. Although I had to do all of the work, I didn't mind because I had him with me. This year was the only year that he couldn't go with me because he couldn't manage the steps anymore and we knew that it wouldn't have been reasonable to install a lift of any kind when we knew the outcome of the cancer. The one thing that he would do that always helped me was he would manage the level so that I could get the coach leveled. And he so enjoyed that knowing that he was able to help in some small way.

So now I travel alone with my little dog, Casey, who just seems to know that I need him with me all the time. I also travel with a new co pilot. This one is exactly like my old co pilot but this one has wings and watches over me constantly. I keep his picture on the dash and I'm constantly reminded of 50 years of a marriage made in heaven. I will miss him forever, but as I travel around southern Wisconsin I will be reminded of all the beautiful places we were able to enjoy the short time that we traveled in our "Lucy".

It has been awhile since I posted on this forum but I recall many names and many friendly people who helped me with so many projects that came with owning a motorhome. I want to thank everyone of you for being here for me and hope that you will continue to support me as I journey through the rest of my life with my Lucy, Casey and my guardian angel, Loren.

May God keep His guiding hand on the road ahead of all of you and keep you safe as you travel the highways of life.

Much love to all of you,
Lacy

Condolences for your loss. It does sound like the RV/camping experiences you and your husband did get to have were what this hobby/life-style is all about. I hope you continue to be blessed by your memories and continue to enjoy your RV'ing.

Heartwarming story, and made me feel sad. I grieve with you. BUT!!! I'm VERY THRILLED to hear you will continue to RV and live life!

My wife and I have ordered another motorhome, and we worry about our health, as I don't want to RV alone I don't think

Thanks so much for the post!

Yes. ...we will survive because we have angel copilots. We truly are not traveling alone.

Thank you all so much for your responses. I am so surprised so many remember me. William Saar,so sorry to hear of the loss of your Ruth. It is so hard to adjust to life without them isn't it? I have some really bad moments, but then again it's only been a couple of weeks. I don't know that I will ever get over losing him and I don't expect to but the RV certainly does help with the pain I'm going through.

I plan to log on to this forum more often just to keep in touch with all of you. It has been fun reading a lot of your posts and I do remember so many many of you. You were so helpful to me when I was buying Lucy. I don't know how I would have done it without all your help. It's true what they say about camping people, they are the best friends in the world.

Sorry for your loss.

Glad that you haven't given up on continuing to RV. I have met MANY solo RV'ers so you won't be alone out there going solo.

May God watch over you in your travels.

The road of life is not too different from our RV Adventures. It takes much fortitude and perseverance to get to the reward at the end. Your copilot is waiting for you at the destination. Be strong and figure out what your life has to accomplish before you reach the destination.

A beautiful post Lacy, and my response is the old Irish blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
