Pilot GS Discount

This is the first trip I have used the Pilot Good Sam discount for gas @ 3 cents off a gallon. I knew about this perk but it seemed that we never thought to use it when traveling. I downloaded the Pilot station finder and we were able to use these stations almost exclusively. We are on our way home now from just over 1000 miles one way. We get gas about every 250 miles on the highway. The Pilot stations usually have the lowest comparable price as other highway stations so the discount is a great perk.

I used gas buddy too and prices were always cheaper this trip at Pilot/Flying J before the additional 3 cents off. I just don't want to deal with another credit card for the extra discount. We last stopped at the Flying J off Airport Blvd. in Denver and used the dump to simplify our return home. It was $7.50 with the discount (from $10) but the water at the dump site was not working. I used our RV water to rinse using a bucket. Sometimes use the outside shower for this but forgot to turn on the pump and thought I was out of water! ha ha.
Forgot to use the card in the store when we got the grandkids treats though. Some stores apply an additional discount in the store--but I didn't see that until looking at the amenities to find the dump station. Maybe next time...

I use Pilot/Flying J a lot while traveling. But do not buy much gas with it. Mostly purchase diesel. I find that P/FJ has comparable prices as other station that have access for our 35' plus 22' toad. The discount is always Cash Price plus $.07. This normally works out to $.13. Not bad when comparing to other stations that do not offer cash price when using credit card. I like using the RV fill stations at Flying J's.

Get the RV credit card, 5 cents off gas. We always used Flying J and still do even though we aren't 56 feet long anymore. Easy in and out, good coffee and we stayed overnight many times. There are a couple of bad ones, only a few, don't use the one at the Breeze Wood interchange on PA turnpike. It's small and the road is bad. Your RV credit card is good at the Pilot stations too but they don't have the special RV islands.

It's not Top Tier gas, but maybe you don't care. Even ARCO is now Top Tier.

We went a step further and got the RV Plus Charge Card. We get 7 cents off per gallon for diesel when we travel a lot. We prefer Flying J over Pilot when we can find them because they have the RV lanes. We don't have to go inside to pay, the pump turns on when you insert the card and doesn't stop after a certain amount. The downside is that you don't have control over how much and when to pay. The full amount is deducted from your account each month no matter how much you spend.

"GasBuddy app saved us far more. "

I agree, some stations are just around the corner. I take convenience and ease of getting in and out over price especially when my Jeep is behind the coach.

We kept our discount cards in the dash cubby on our recent 9000 mile trip. Never got to use them as fuel was cheaper elsewhere, even with the discount.

GasBuddy app saved us far more.

Gasoline, it may be in line with everyone else. For Diesel, you can usually find it cheaper. All depends on your schedule and if the convenience of a truck stop works or not.
