We just had a power problem at a campground last weekend that fried our microwave. A progressive industries surge guard plugged into the pole showed Open Neutral while the tools the campground maintenance guys were using just confirmed voltage so they thought nothing was wrong!

The campground had an electrician come out after we explained to management what our device was showing, and he confirmed there was an issue with the neutral. They have since agreed to pay for our repairs.

We will never plug in without first testing with the progressive industries surge guard now, as that could have prevented our having to come back home and replace fuses and then try to find out what all was impacted!

I'm confused :H

How did your microwave get damaged IF Progressive Industries showed 'open neutral' which will not allow power thru surge guard to RV ???

Or is it that you checked power pedestal with the Progressive Industries---it indicated open neutral and then you went ahead and used the power pedestal WITHOUT the surge guard in use??
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Our Progressive Industries EMS has found a number of mis-wired pedestals over the years and protected us from power surges and brown-outs as well.

Nothing like the peace of mind you get from watching it scroll through both legs and then click on with zero errors.

I would not want a hard wired one without a bypass feature.

I prefer a hard wired EMS (note, this does more than a surge protector -- it cuts off voltage if you plug into a dryer outlet or under 90 volts.)

Ideally, I like a cheap portable UPS that will eat the surge from the lines, then an EMS behind that.

How bout the one made by TRC Surge Guard Protector sold at CampingWorld??

Only 'One year warranty'
Does the same as Progressive but when it breaks you replace.
Progressive can be fixed/replaced by Progressive

Definitely Progressive Industries because of product quality, customer service folks and lifetime warranty.

As too which one...portable or hardwired.

Hardwired has advantages provided you have place to install.
Hardwire was going to be PITA so I went with portable......great piece of equipment and I never even worried about it being stolen.
200 plus CGs a year and still have it.

Pregressive Industries is head and shoulders above the competition. Made in America. Wonderful customer service. Modular construction so you can service it in the field, yourself. And has a lifetime warranty.

Personally, I prefer the hard-wired.
