Progressive as RV Insurance

Our coach is currently insured by USAA along with a couple other vehicles we own. Our boat also used to be on USAA, but USAA told us they were an agency for Progressive and they felt Progressive was better for that type of "vehicle." We changed, and we're satisfied with coverages and price but haven't had a claim

I feel our Class C is basically insured by USAA as "Ford Van" not "Jayco RV." We'd be fine with "motor vehicle" mishaps but maybe not with things like torn RV roof, storm damaged awnings, and so on. So I'm ready to roll that coverage over to Progressive.

Before I do, who has had Claims with Progressive and are you satisfied with Progressive's service and settlements?

We've had Progressive for our Class C Jayco for 2 years. The first year we had a $7K claim (don't ask!) that was not a motor vehicle accident, but cause by "user error". We had a great experience with the Progressive agent here in Idaho, and our claim was covered completely other than the 1K deductible.
I was a little nervous to get our renewal notice the next year, but our premium stayed the same. This renewal was 7 months after the incident--so Progressive had plenty of time to see there was a claim on our policy. We will get our next renewal in August of this year, so who knows what will happen then.

I had Progressive when I had a motorhome, and when I suffered an unplanned awning deployment at 60 mph they were great. It was replaced by a top-notch shop (not Camping World) with a better awning. However, I used their roadside assistance once and it was terrible. They contract local providers, and this particular one was a kid in a battered Ford Focus with a box of Walmart tools and not a clue of how to change a motorhome tire.

USAA is a top tier company, and I was thinking that if they linked up with Progressive it should be OK. What I was looking for here, was experience with "RV" type mishaps, and you're indicating those work our well. Thinking I'll go ahead and try it. Thanks!!!

I had a tire snap all the lugnuts and tear through the sidewall of our 5th wheel. Progressive was very good during the repair for us....

We had an awning rip loose and Progressive was very good about getting it taken care of quickly and right.

However (there always is), we had a replacement value contract for the first few years, and the price went up a lot on the last year. I called and they told me the price would drop at the expiration of the replacement value, but it went up again. Dropped them and went with State Farm.

I've had Progressive before and they loved to jack prices too much each year, I guess assuming you wouldn't notice. This last time, I thought we would give them another chance since the price was so good. However, at least for us, they still have the same tactic.

This last time, they sent me an e-mail asking why I dropped. I explained why, but never got a reply. Will never use them again -- think they are shady.

I'm in Canada, probably somewhat different. I recently switched our class C motorhome from company A to company B - same coverage at a third of the price. A didn't allow dropping the liability coverage for the winter while B does. The price was so good I didn't choose to do that because it is nice to take it for a drive every month.

Our MH is 14 years old so I don't have damage to it covered. Windshield coverage is worthless because the deductible is higher than the cost of a windshield replacement.

I want insurance for a disaster, not things I can manage myself. We have collision coverage on our newest vehicle but with a high deductible after it is several years old because claiming a $1000 for a dent I can live with will cost $1000 in higher premiums anyway.

Our progressive appraiser was very accommodating for a recent claim, and I've heard multiple shops speak highly of them- quick to settle claim with little hassle.

IMHO don't see any one as better than another. They all have different ways to make life aggravating. Made a windshield claim when i had geico,,when I switched to progressive, they used that claim as a justification for a higher initial rate (told me so)
Just be sure you know exactly what is covered and what it costs (short añd long term)

Last month we had our class A windshield replaced. Because of traveling and the Tampa RV show, it took two weeks to schedule the replacement. But working with progressive was excellent and they went out of their way to find a shop we liked in the right area and on our schedule. It cost us nothing and we were able to overnight the night before in the repair lot. We full time and Progressive made it easy.
