Replacement tires

A Tire shop (truck) suggested a tire for my class A
Has anyone had any experience with Dunlop Sp 348 tires?
Tire shop guy said that would be a good tire to run on my Class A, made by GoodYear.
245/70R/19.5 tires go on it. I have run GY 670 RV tires and Michelin XRV tires.
Just a thought, many of my friends are going to different tires due to cost increases.
Some Samson tires that Camping World were offering?

I have run this exact tire for the past seven years. I have been very happy with them.

Only recently have I begun seeing the very tiniest of cracks in a only couple of them. I keep them covered and spray 303 Protectant on them a few times a year. As I am about to replace my tires too, I am certainly keeping the Dunlops in the mix. I would not hesitate to use them again.

I would ask the dealer what the date code is for the tires. Even if they are new they may be a few years old. We bought a 'NEW' tire a few years ago and when I asked how old the tire was the answer was 2 years old.
But we were stranded and needed the tire. The dealer gave us a whole $10.00 discount

I read on another RV forum (can't remember which one ;/ ) that Samson tires are really good yet inexpensive. My husband priced some for our 92 Southwind 35' and four 8R 19.5 12 ply tires would be $714 out the door--mounted, balanced etc.
on the other forum, there were a couple of guys that had bought the Samson and gave reviews after certain amount so time or miles. One had them longer than the other and influenced the guy to buy them so he started a "running review."
They had nothing but good to say about them and said long haul truckers use that brand a lot.

Jim, sorry to see you got roasted for giving your opinion! I agree with you and the OP was talking about RV Tires and there are only two RV tires made for RV applications Goodyear 670 and Michelin XRV (example these tires are made of soft rubber because of all the sitting in place that RV's experience) all the rest of the tires are just hard rubber truck tires that can fit on a RV, and that's a fact, they weren't specifically made for RVing!

I had Michelin 275/80R/22.5 tires on my 2003 MH that I replaced with 30,202 mileage that were 8+ years based on date of MFG. They had very slight cracking on two at the bead and being approaching 9 years old were due for replacement. Tire wear was never a problem and ride and handling was great. I replaced them with the same Michelin XZA3 tire and now have 54,000 mileage on the MH with no problems and still satisfied with their performance and would buy the same again. I check and maintain the tire pressure and they do not show any abnormal wear for 24,000 miles since installed. I believe you get what you pay for.

If other brands are so good why do Mfg. not use them when they build the MH, as they would cost less?

The dealer said he would need a couple days notice so he could order and get the tires.
Says tires would be new.
I agree with you, I have been down that road before. Dealer tried to install Michelins last time and mounted the wheels on left rear so I couldn't see date. I made him take tires off and get newer tires. He said the date is when the tires are installed that they go by for 5 year replacement if its required.
I said get them off and get new tires which he did.

Did you check the year of manufacture on offered tires?
Seeking new tire for spare I was just offered brand new tire.. manufactured in 2007

All 6 tires on my coach are Hankook. Doing just great. My only complaint is that I am running their largest tire 275/70/22.5 in their AH12 model. I could use a taller tire.

IMHO, the tires the dealers suggest are the tires they have in stock and want to sell. This benefits the seller, rather than the buyer.

Dunlop has a good reputation, but I like Hankook personally.

I agree with Jerry. Between our cars, trucks and RV's we've owned at least 8 sets of Michelins that I can think of. Of those 8 sets I'd say one set was a good quality tire. The other sets either had no grip in any condition, wore out at less than 1/2 their rated mileage, or blew while parked in our garage. For my $$$ Michelin isn't even a consideration.

I'm not certain this claim is based of factual information. I'v looked and can find nothing that even remotely suggests there is any correlation between cost and reliability....as it pertains to MH tires.

There is some evidence this claim has validity regarding ST rated TT tires but not for those used on MH's. Please share your source data with us.
