Rest Area in Florida!

We pulled in to a rest area on US 19 near Chiefland, Florida last month.it had a weird setup for pulling in.Two Motorhomes were facing North in the parallel spots so I went around the bathroom area, a real tight fit, but survived it. Pulled in behind these 2 coaches. When I got out I looked and noticed that they pulled in that way because they were headed North and to get across had to exit the Northern exit to cross main highway. I could and should have went straight in and parked parallel to them facing South and go out the South merge lane. Reading what I wrote even is confusing me more. Anyone else been there, done that?

I use 19 whenever possible. No traffic once you get north of Crystal River. Nice easy driving.

Right Pat there is none at Chiefland...

I think he is referring to the one west of Perry, FL. Two entrances with a 4 lane divided highway. If each rig takes the first entrance they come to, you end up nose to nose. Then there is a tight picnic area loop behind also. A rest area from the late '60s when stuff was simpler. 🙂 🙂

We've stopped there many times and know what you mean. There is also a bump coming out the south end. Lots of mosquitoes there too!! We only stop for a minute and leave!! We just hope there are no other RV's there when we stop.

I've run that road for 43 years and have never overnighted in the Chiefland area. I'm usually blowing thru and spending the night in the Tally or G'ville areas. You must have been real tired on your return trip to stop in Chiefland. Weeki Wachee isn't but what... 75 miles?

Did you notice the signs that they lock the rest area at 7 PM? We stop there often when traveling US-19, as it is a good 1st break when leaving from north Pinellas or north of there. I agree, unless you are familiar with the rest area, it can be confusing.....
