Goodmorning everyone.

We have a 40ft phaeton motorhome and are presently in the rio grande valley area of texas.

We would like to have our motorhome underbelly sandblasted and coated. Does anyone know of a company in south texas that does this?

Thanks
Rick and vikki

I sandblasted and painted mine several years ago. You have to use some common sense about how you do it but I've had no problem because of it. I primed then painted it white, it's much easier to see to do maintenance.

Yes, oiling the underside of vehicles is still a common proceedure. I have my have my Dodge Ram 1500 done once a year. Costs about $100. per application. Although, I'm sure that it would be considerably more for a motor home.

Krown vehicle undercoating

It is a bit messy afterward as it drips for as much as a few days. Not a problem on grass or a black top driveway, but can stain a concrete driveway. Keep in mind that the coating ("oil") is clear. Not dark as typically thought of when thinking "oil". Seems to work well. I guess I'll find out in a few years.

The Krown Company is Canadian based, but they have many locations in the states that do the applications.

I forgot about CO2 blasting. I have a friend that has helped a buddy of his do CO2 blasting on commercial buildings it'll knock the heck out of what is being blasted but leaves nothing but the debris that is being hit.

It was cheaper than undercoating but had to be done every year. It worked best if you left the car outside because it did drip for a while.

bsinmich: I would like to know more about "oil the bottoms of vehicles". Seems like it would be quite a mess, and probably expensive.

Do they still oil the bottoms of vehicles in Canada? That used to get done every year by a couple of my Canadian relatives and might do what you are trying to do.

Ask about soda blasting. It like sandblasting, but uses sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) - usually in water - rather than sand, and is commonly used on industrial equipment that might become contaminated if sandblasted. In our area they often use it on fiberglass boats to remove old bottom paint, and the higher end body shops have the equipment for use on trucks and autos. It is still important that you have someone do it that knows what they are doing, and it will not be cheap.

I would recommend a degreasing solvent be sprayed on and then pressure wash before undercoating.

I Googled "south texas vehicle undercoating" and found a number of undercoating services, some specialize in trucks and RV's.
