Schwintek Slide slides out while driving

We own a 2014 Winnebago Vista 27N. All slides use the Schwintek In Wall Slide System. Our longest slide slides out while driving down the road. The electric brakes in the motors are not engaging. Has anyone had this problem? And if so, what was the root cause and the fix? The controller has been replaced and the 2 motors have been replaced per recommendations from Winnebago and Schwintek (who is owned by LCI). It still creeps out about 1" to 2" while driving. Need some help. Other than the "creeping out while driving", the slide works fine.

The system we are talking about is not even remotely like the system you had fixed. Doug

What? According to this forum that only happens on Thor models. ๐Ÿ™‚

The "fix" is simple. LCI (Schwintek) sends all the control boards with the "torque adjustment pot" at maximum amp. IF you back the amp adjustment off a little at a time and test drive you will find where the room will not extend. The problem is, when it is on MAX, the room motors overtorque (put too much pressure on the flange and seals) and the motor brake system cannot hold it that tight. So, the room relaxes in transit and will even do it slightly stationary. This is usually only a problem on motorhomes with Scwintek mechanisms as the Towables do not have as rigid of cutout wall holes and the sidewall will allow some flex. As you found out, replacing the motors AND the controller did not fix the problem. The Scwintek system is VERY simple. A pain to diagnois and replace but the design is simple. Now, be aware that you MUST have either LCI or Winne approving of this amp adjustment as the control module plainly states that if you poke a hole thru the paper cover it voids the warranty. We remove the cover(4 screws) to make sure we do not poke a hole in the cover:W Doug

I hope the OPer gets your slide out system fix and in good working order, but as to the Schwintek Slide systems to many problems I have heard here and on other forums, I think RV makers need to stay with the tried and true Power Gear slideout systems that have been is use for many years.

I use slide out bar locks just for safety but don't forget to take them out before opening slide.

Winnebago does offer factory service. Might be a solution since dealers have been unable to resolve this issue.

The slide lock bar looks like a good solution. Does it have an easy release to relieve any compression on the bar after you have been traveling down the road?
I need to look into 'resetting the system" suggestion also.
They don't make quality duct tape like they used to 30 - 40 years ago.
thanks to all who replied.

Almost any kind of a rod will work. We have three of them for our one slide.

You need to do a system reset should fix the problem

Before all the fancy motor gear locks the RV's used a SLIDE LOCK BAR between the inside of the slide and the inside wall close to the ceiling inside the trailer.

Looked something like this:

photos from google search

You might be able to rig up a couple of 2X4's laying on top of the slide that is inside the trailer when pulled-in to do the same thing while trying to figure out the problem with the motor gear lock...

Just a thought...
