The black tank sensor failed completely, so last week I replaced both black and gray sensors. I did some testing during the replacement, initially taping them on, and testing signal strength and performance.
Whichever sensor I put on the gray tank reads 100 all the time.
I called seelevel and worked with their tech a while, and gave in to the obvious, the tank is sludged up with enough of something that it's screwing up the sensor.
I bought 2 containers of happy camper extreme and will use one the next time we move.
Any other experience or suggestions on how to get this sensor working again?

The Geo Method
I've used the GEO method for some time. Went to various digesters when the gray sensor started getting flaky. For a while it read decent except when the tank was near full or near empty, it read 100 then. Now it's just 100 all the time... 😞

"Elias"...... mine wasn't a Seelevel. It was a rand that is no longer made. It had an orange backlit window with all tanks showing. My laptop has a photo, but is out for repair.

Mine functions exactly as yours did.

Don, this is my new SeeLevel install. It looks similar to what you had in your Monaco.
Is that temperature reading for the grey or black tank, or the batteries?
This particular SeeLevel version comes with a temperature sensor. You can use it for external temp readings or for wet bay temp. I chose the wet bay temp since we camp year round, i like to know how cold it's getting in the wet bay.
The battery reading is letting you know battery state of charge.

Jim......when I had my 2005 Monaco, I added a sensor system, (forgot the brand name and the company later discontinued making the unit) that used the same strip type sensors. The system would read the water, battery and propane perfectly, but was finicky when reading black and grey. I called the company and they said they had issues with the sensors reading Monaco tanks due to their thickness. I never got them to read perfectly, but it helped when I placed some dense foam between the sensor and compartment wall, putting pressure on the sensor. It might be worth a try.
I loved that sensor unit because it had a digital display screen that showed all of the tanks at the same time in percentages, in increments of 5.......100, 95, 90, etc. It also showed the battery numbers too.
Don, this is my new SeeLevel install. It looks similar to what you had in your Monaco.

Yes, problem is with the gray tank.
If anyone has any magic for a sludged up gray tank, I'd love to hear.

I was able to install a flush-out in my gray water tank and use a valve to switch between flushing the black water or grey water. It's been working great. The odors from the grey water are often as bad or worse that the black water and I wanted flush both.
I use Happy Camper after a friend recommended it very highly. I can't say all the odors are gone but they're a lot better than they were.

It does not scrub the tank.....just floats, bounces around and melts
LINK
As for those sensors......
SeeLevel stay cleaner longer because they don't come in contact with 'stuff' but the inside of tank does get crudded up.,
Soap scum, dried on TP, dried on poop, body oils etc.
So what do you use to clean tub/showers at home.
CLR, Kapow, Purple goo etc.
Problem is you can't spray those on the walls of waste tanks.
So you need a digester.....Unique is one brand that will break down stuck on stuff.
Personally...I don't bother. I dump when necessary w/o looking at useless monitor.
