Strange "Buzzer"

Pass42

If I depress the service brakes, parking brake engaged, and put the bus in either D or R, a "buzzer" in the dashboard sounds... on/off, not constant........
If I depress the service brakes, release parking brake, put the tranny in either D or R, no "buzzer".....
No idiot lights, all gauges reading ok, my VMSPC program shows all good, no logged codes...
Allison, Freightliner and my buddy who was a National RV Tech all say "I got nothing......"
I'm confused..... Any ideas?????
Maybe the previous owner installed a buzzer to warn of driving with parking brake engaged?????

Pass 42 Sorry I can't tell you where the buzzer is located, but on my Tradewinds my dash can be pulled forward a little bit so I can see inside. I just looked down there and found the buzzer that was making the noise and took it loose. It has been 3 years or more since I pulled it.

My dash is held in place by Velcro so it is easy to pull forward and have a look. Tcooper mentioned where one of the sensors is located. You might check that also. Hope that helps.

Sorry, I had not read far enough to see the solution. I may now check my coach as I believe I was having the same problem you were having.

Well - Problem Solved (I think) Called Freightliner for the second time... got a different tech guy... he said just forward of the rear axle, drivers side, on the frame rail is an air manifold.. it has a pressure switch out of each end.. the one with the spade connectors is the parking brake light, the one with the 3" pigtail and connector is the parking brake chime switch... he said that switch is going/went bad... replace it and problem should be solved... for right now, I just disconnected the pigtail connector... hopefully, that will work til I get a switch. Thank you everyone for the hints, tips and ideas!!!!

I wonder if it's like what someone mentioned earlier. The Leveling System.
My leveling control board would intermittently buzz a while back. My jacks rear were not all the way up. Just a thought

I actually called Freightliner, with my VIN, they said the only buzzer was the loud one used by the low air warning....
It appeared, at first, that the order in which I released parking brake, etc made a difference.....not anymore...
Usually we can start driving, with no buzzer/beeper, than after an indeterminate period of time the sound starts... sometimes it will stop on its own, sometimes not... sometimes for a short while, sometimes for miles and miles... sometimes the sound is louder than others.....

As suggested by Wolfe10, if your chassis if Freightliner, call the Freightliner help desk (free service). Have your vin number handy so that they can find your chassis records.

I had that problem, and the sensor was located along the frame rail, driver side, just in front of the rear axle.

Freightliner help desk number is 1 800 FTL HELP.

I would check the level in your jacks reservoir in the compartment behind the street side duals. It should be up to the level of the nut you remove to check the level; the jacks must be retracted "up".

If this is ok and you air pressure gauges are reading properly then you have either a bad level sensor on the jacks or a bad airbrake sensor.

I personally start with the level sensor first. Then move on to the airbrakes.

There are several different buzzers you can get with the National 7370. First, the buzzer you get when the air is not up enough to travel and that buzzer will stay on until the air builds to sufficient level. Usually 135 pounds. The other buzzer is a result of low fluid in the jack reservoir. With the jacks up, check and fill the reservoir. Another buzzer is the result of the parking brake sensor not recognizing the air is up and the brake is off.

I had the last problem and could not find the sensor so I found the buzzer under the dash and disconnected it. Someone said that sensor was underneath near the back left side tires. Didn't find it so now, when my parking brake is on and I put it in D I have no buzzer. I just have to remember to take off the parking brake.

Hope this helps. Arnold

OK - except the buzzer/beeper does not stop... we drove for 8 hours today with the on/off beeper noise coming out of the dash...no beeper in neutral, however, beeper in D or R... parking brake off... everything else is normal...
I was thinking maybe seatbelt warning... never put on Nationals
at a loss as to what else... maybe a bad connection/loose wire in parking brake alarm circuit????

well thats not what u claimed in your first post you claimed quote:
If I depress the service brakes, release parking brake, put the tranny in either D or R, no "buzzer".....

A possibility.

Contact your chassis maker (likely Freightliner) with your VIN. They can tell you want to check.
