Thor ACE

I read someone else on the site has had problems with their Thor Axis.
We bought a new Thor ACE IN June 2014. It has been a nightmare. Leaks from roof, shower storage area. So many other things I don't want to waste readers time with. Just want to say I WILL NOT EVER buy another Thor product and would not recommend them to anyone. I don't know how it left the factory with so many problems! It looks like we will end up in a Lemon Law court due to leaks in roof that is causing damage to the coach and resale problems.
Just wished someone else would have posted about Thor before I spent $80,000.00 for our retirement joy of traveling.
Sorry just had to vent.

Love our 29.1 and have no troubles for the past three years. Sorry that some got lemons, but never judge the whole model by one example. Bad or good. Inspect your purchase, cross your fingers, and.move forward.

I have met 3 other new ACE owners since we bought ours 6 months ago with bad news about theirs. I will say where I take mine to get repairs all the service tech tells me is so many Thor coaches are getting repaired! They are so far behind. So it's not just one example. Glad to hear you are not having troubles. I just retired and expect to be traveling in our NEW Thor ACE. Kind of upset and stressed!

I was thinking about the 30.1 but the more I read these things the more thinking I do. I always thought that quality was lacking. I guess there is something to buy a couple years old and maybe just maybe the problems are worked out. Who really knows for sure.

Wow. I have been admiring the 29.2, which would work for me. Wish you the best.
My question is, did they locate the source of the leaks?

They stopped the leak in bedroom but have not stopped the leak in front. I have to let them try for the 3rd/4th time before I can move forward with the Lemon law. By then our coach's value will drop from water damage.
Thanks for asking!

To the response from lryrob9301, I did say I read the Florida rv Lemon Law. I know about "Living Facilities". If the problem as a ROOF LEAK is taken down the VALUE of the coach it will stand for the Lemon Law. Thanks for your ideas and thoughts! Like I said I will NOT take a loss from a JUNK building company!!!
I will keep all my RV family up to date on this issue. Maybe it might wake up THOR or not.
To Effy that owns the 29.2, I'm so happy you don't have the problems or STRESS with your Thor. I guess your coach got made when they still had Quality Control checks!!!!!

No issues with mine but obviously Thor has some quality issues. I was thinking of trading our 29.2 for a 29.3 because I like the floorplan but the more horror stories I hear about new coaches (from any brand) the more I am wondering if I want to take on the risk. Our coach has been trouble free and there is a lot to be said for that. This is our second ACE and I have had very little issues with either. Maybe I'm lucky.

To the OP, good luck getting it worked out, I have always found Thor to be very helpful and accommodating, I hope they can get you back on the road.

I suggest you read the attached document:Florida Lemon Law

Under Florida Lemon Law, the "Living Facilities" are not covered on motorized recreational vehicles. Look at the "NOTE" section near the bottom. Lemon Law does not cover the โ€œliving facilitiesโ€ of motorized RVโ€™s (those portions of the RV designed, used or maintained primarily as living quarters).

Im not sure what Thor's problem is. My buddy bought a new challenger 37 about the same as I purchased my Tiffin 36. There was not a whole lot difference in price, The thing is an absolute pile of junk. There are so many issues I doubt they will ever be fixed, its been back to the factory twice, wiring problems, paint issues, slides, cubbords falling apart, the list goes on and on

Thanks for the replies! I have been researching the Florida RV Lemon Law. It says if the problem is causing a loss in value that it falls in Lemon Law statue. I think a leaking roof from the factory that is running in the walls is a great case! I will fight this JUNK RV builder as long as my wallet will let me if the law fails! The RV family needs to stand up to these builders and not just trade in and take a loss!

You would be surprised, at how many RVs are considered total loss with their insurance just from water leaks. Check out Coparts.com, accident salvage yards.

You may want to check your states Lemon Law statutes. I think you will find only the chassis portion of the motorhome is covered, not the house part. However, a lot of states have a commercial product liability of purpose law that can be pursued, it's just a lot more work for an attorney, that's why it's seldom used in these cases.

Sounds just like the 2013 ACE 27.1 I had. Water leaks, shoddy workmanship, etc. Had it 3 months, most of the time at the dealers having things fixed. Took a loss and traded on a Winnebago Vista 27N. Not happy about loosing the money but very happy to see the ACE go.

Every time I posted about it I was accused of Thor bashing.

Sorry for your problems .. but these days having issues with new rigs is becoming the norm. Roof issue/water intrusion is a BIG DEAL and not acceptable by any std -- other stuff is pretty common and many experienced RVers will fix it themselves either because they don't want to waste the time or don't trust the dealer to get it right.
