Tire decision, Michelin, BFG, or Kumho

After 8 years, it's time to replace my 245-70R-19.5 tires. I got these prices from a reputable local store. They are all out the door including balance and new valve stems.

Michelin.......................... $2901

BF Goodrich....................... $2318

Kumho............................. $2066


Any thoughts or advice???

I've found 245 70R 19.5 in Toyo's load range H installed for $380 each. New tires 3 months old. I've run Toyo's on my Ranger for quite a while and have been very pleased. These are truck tires. I road in MH with Toyo's on them, was a nice riding tire. I personally would be wary of any tire made in France.

I'm thinking that every major brand will sooner or later be subletting out to China for their manufacturing, but their big names will linger on for a very long time and still command exorbitant prices. Don't know what all the die hards will do at that point, cause riding on the rims isn't so good, either.... :E

I have the same size tires. Two months ago I replaced my GY with BFG. I moved from load range F to G. I drove to Florida and back and was very pleased with them. Seemed to be smoother than the GY with 10 more psi in the tires.

I noticed the BFG were made in France. I am happy with them.

I also installed TST tire monitors and was pleased, other than the screen is difficult to read in the sunlight.

The way I see it is your paying for advertising.

What is zipper issue? And why hasn't it happened to me? I've run Michelin XZE's on my semi (a new set every year for 44 years, semi only ) and XRV's on my motorhome (2nd set) and the worst problem that I've had is flat tires? I'm saying if zippering is a bad problem with Michelin Tires, I mostly likely have run Michelin Tire more then anyone else on this website?

The zipper issue and the rivering have been discussed on this and other forums many times. Maybe do a search here or google?

Been following this because I have to replace my 4 rear. No Tag. I can't justify Mich's anymore. Made n China, overpriced. I've been looking at Toyo's and Hercules as alternatives to all the others. The Toyo's have a good rep and are 16 ply tires with a single tire load rate of 4800 lbs. The Hercules H803's are also 16 ply and rated 4800 dual tire load.

I bought my Michelin XRV 225-70R-19.5 tires through the FMCA Tire program.

I paid $2660 last March for everything.

You can get other tires for cheaper, and it was installed on a 20-yr-old motorhome, but I just didn't feel good about betting my life on it.
