Toss-ins for a NEW Class A buy

Howdy folks. As a long time member here on the forum, having experienced the 'tagger' tag along life, then the 5'er voyage, me and the Bride are looking to dive into a NEW Class 'A' to carry us into retirement and beyond. We will NOT be full-timers. So before we negotiate a deal, was curious what folks would consider "toss-ins" on a new Class A rig negotiation. Thus far, our list only consists of Max-Air covers for all roof vents, quality storage cover and generator exhaust extender. Anything else to consider when the sales person comes back with "their final number"? Any insight much appreciated!!!!

Actually, the Trav'ler is generally $300 to $500 higher than an in-motion antenna and the installation can cost a bit more.

Not when I purchased mine. Trav'ler was around 1200 and the in-motion was over 1400.

I agree with "Mile High" and just work your best deal. If you want a bunch of options added, you can do it two ways. Either way, get your base price for the coach figured out and then decide what options you may want the dealer to install. Price them out individually and then have them figure it into the loan.

The other way is to decide what you want as options, set that cash aside and add them after the purchase. If you go in adding a ton of options, the price will get convoluted and a lot of additional markup will be snuck into the deal. Obviously, if there are a lot of dealer specific changes/upgrades that only the dealer can do, than you'll be at their mercy.

I would go for the maximum discount. If there are extras you want, most dealers will discount them. So buy them and have them installed before you pick up the coach. If you are not happy with the prices on the extras, negotiate the price or buy them yourself and have the dealer install.

Money would be at the top of my list and what's the diff? In fact, they would rather give you another discount and say bye bye anyway.

If they agree to toss it in, you are probably paying too much. Negotiate price to purchase first, then once you are in the closing room you can start shopping for "adders". Typically nothing they install or hand you is going to be great pricing, but it can be added to a loan if you are financing.

It used to be a big deal to have the shop upsell you on accessories for your new vehicle, especially trucks, but anymore they just upsell you on the big profit items like all that mucky oils, lifetime polish and nitrogen in your tire nonsense.

I tend to like to get my paperwork done and get the heck out of there and try it out first before I make any accessory decisions. Once I decide on "must haves" I can usually get them through Amazon much cheaper and install myself. Amazon prime delivered my Travler right to the front porch and it took about 2 hours to install - probably better than the Dealer ever would have done.

Unit we're looking at has a gas engine ... Winnebago 29 VE. Does the upgrade batteries suggestion apply to such?

X2, plus I requested a wash/wax (while I finalized the paperwork and watched them), full tank of diesel, full tank of propane, and a tech for 30 minutes to ask some basic questions. That was my first and only motor home purchase, still with it 13 years later.

Our mh had an "in-motion" dome antenna (which actually costs more than the Trav'ler) and made a deal with them to trade with removal and installation thrown in. Our problem was that the coach was set up for DirectTV and we have DISH. Caused a few problems, but finally did get it all straighten out. You just can't beat the Trav'ler.
