that is the only valid source of information. I go to a dealer and have a salesman go into the back room and bring out a manual. they seem to remove them until sold.

Because, the ones left in the vehicles have LEGS!

The 2016 4 wheel down towing guide is not yet completed. Below is from the 2015 publication.

Explorer 3.5L (FWD/AWD) Yes (3)(4)(5)
Explorer 3.5L EcoBoost® (AWD) Yes (3)(4)(5)

(3) All-wheel-drive/Intelligent 4WD vehicles cannot be towed on a dolly.
(4) Maximum speed with automatic transmission is 65 mph.
(5) Start the engine and allow it to run for five (5) minutes at the beginning of each day and every six (6) hours
thereafter.

Ignore the negative. I always start my research on something like this on here first and there are always people that chime in and tell you to go ask somebody else or look somewhere else. The info I gave you is a good place to start. It says for 2015 AWD and front wheel drive are towable, but for some reason not with the 4 cylinder eco-boost engine. So now your friend can take that info and go to the dealership and confirm it with them.

Thats straight from the owners manual, my wife drives a '14 Limited.

The info in the link I posted says both AWD and front wheel drive are towable for 2015, unless they have the 4 cylinder eco-boost engine. Then they are not towable. I have no idea why an engine type would matter, but that's what it says.

So, go to the dealer. Ask the salesperson to see the Owners Manual for the model you are interested in. Better yet, ask the Sales Manager!
If the salesperson or manager won't get a manual for you to read, walk out and go to another dealer.
DO NOT ask the salesperson or manager if the model you want is towable behind a motorhome. Chances are, he or she has no idea what you are talking about, and no idea what the correct answer is!

This is too big a purchase to leave the research to an internet forum where the answers may or may not be correct. The vehicle purchaser should do their due diligence and research with the manufacturer.

There are 24 hours in every day - it all depends on how you choose to use them.
