Hello everyone,

I'm looking to buy a Coachmen 407FW and I called my insurance agent to get an idea of cost. He said 3500 a year. I and almost fell off the chair. I asked him 3 times what he said.

That just add 300 a month to the payment.

Is this what everyone is paying?

My truck and TH together is just over half that a year.

"Where" is important as well. When we "moved" to Florida from Illinois, our Geico insurance more than doubled.

We have Erie Insurance and ours is only $828 per year with 250/500/100 and 2 million liability with a $500 Ded on collision and $100 comp.

National Interstate is mine also, my cost is around $800.00 per year, could be a little less not sure, I also moved my Jeep I tow behind over to them from State Farm and it went up a extra hundred per year on that but thought it was best to have both under same insurance in case of a accident, they have the best rates with great coverage, they replaced my front window on motorhome and only cost me $100 and never raised my rates.

Get a quote from several companies. What WE pay is irrelevant. Someone with several DUI's will be paying a LOT more than a guy with a clean record. If you're that guy then you'll be paying a lot. Your quote will depend on the size, type and model of rig you own, whether it's agreed value or actual value, the amount of coverage and protection you want and your credit score. Any and all of these will vary what you're charged for insurance. Is insurance expensive, sure it is, but what we pay means nothing to YOUR situation. Full timer's insurance is more than double what you were quoted....Dennis

A lot of people insure with National Interstate. They gave us the best quote. Our coach is 'out of the norm' so only three companies insure at the level that we needed.

Another thing you might want to consider, take the AARP safe driving computer course. It's about $20 and you will get a discount on your insurance. It's an 8 hr. course and they give you 30 days to complete it. I finished it in about 4 days, working on it a couple hrs. a night.

I actually enjoyed taking the course. It's not pass or fail.....the certificate just shows that you went through the whole course.

It gave us a $1,000 discount on the coach and also a discount on the car insurance (with a different company). The certificate is good for 3 yrs.
