Hi Harvard,

Now, if only we could "harvest" that voltage....

Stopped briefly under a 6KV single phase power line that runs across a nearby gravelled country road to verify how much "hot skin" voltage our 28 foot unit picks up from the power line. Measured a steady 62 VAC RMS (peak 88 VAC) chassis (bumper) to EARTH voltage. Our unit has a rubber roof and a non conductive siding material.

Drove it to Lumsden, and used the new hybrid inverter to limit the incoming power to 15 amps. Any over loads will be powered from the battery bank. In the old days I had to be careful to never overload a 15 amp circuit.

Took delivery yesterday. Today was scrub, scrub, scrub. Got the carpet looking good once again and got rid of PO touches that we didn't care for. Tomorrow we clean the bathroom and the cab and we are ready to go camping!

Washed and waxed it. Sorted the basement storage compartments and removed unused items in preparation of a trip to the Keys next month. I want to minimize the weight of the coach for the trip.

Ran HDMI cable for the rear tv. Repaired the front headliner by adding a metal angle underneath the wooden cove moulding. Added plastic screw certs into the

wood to hold the air conditioner shroud to the ceiling. Caulked all holes I needed to drill to run HDMI cable. Checked condition of the tires, visual inspection.

ordered a new inverter for rear TV.

I just picked up my newer Itasca from my brother's warehouse, where it's been sitting since Aug. 5, the day I got back from four days in Orlando, as well as the day before my hip replacement surgery. It's had plenty of time to dry out and have the cabover area resealed where it was leaking. I was not a very happy camper when I discovered that my year old MH was leaking.
Friday I'm going down to the Keys for four days. Hopefully this leak is fixed.

Nothing huge, but some fun little mods today: a bathroom light switch, 12v outlet in the storage hatch (for our thermoelectric cooler - cheap way to make part of an "outdoor kitchen"), and added a magnetic strip in the storage hatch for s'mores forks.

Cheers!

Loading for a trip next week to get away from the smoke. We can only see a block or so because of the smoke. Looks like its snowing out side with all the ash from the forest fires around us. Washed the rig last weekend. Covered with about a 1/4th inch of ash each morning then the wind comes up and blowes it off. No way to get to the rig with out being covered in ash. Oh well, Oregon Coast here we come.

Hi,

Measured the side for additional solar panels. There is not nearly as much room as I hoped.

Did an extensive inspection of the drive-train, brakes and tires in preparation of an extended trip and found that both of my rear brakes were locking-up and damaging the tires. Got it back from the shop today with new brake lines, calipers and pads, rotors and 4 new tires. I was lucky that I found the problems before we hit the road. I know the tires wouldn't have made the 4,000 mile trip.

Also had an air lift system added to all 4 wheels while it was in the shop and feel ready to take on the world.

Not long after I bought the Tiger, I added a set of cab steps (remember, this is based on a 4x4 pickup). Regrettably, I dropped about $100 on a set of 'Rhino' brand spring-loaded steps. They came with next to no installation instructions. They also never worked well, since as your weight went onto them, they pivoted partway under the rocker panel as they went down on the spring. I worried that someone would step up on one unaware and get their lower shin bruised, or break an ankle. And the black paint job dropped off it big flakes within a few years, leaving a rusty mess.

A few days ago, I got around to looking for and finding some 'Bully' brand cab steps, stationary and in aluminum. $55 for the pair at Autozone. Today I pulled the Rhino cr*p off of the passenger's side, and replaced it with the Bully. Shoulda done it a long time ago. I lost the shade in the driveway, so I left the driver's side to do tomorrow AM.

Jim, "I couldn't fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder."
