I acquired a 97 Bounder and there are two of these things on the wall. One is on a wall above the dinette on top of the air conditioner and heat buttons, the other is in the bedroom on a wall by the door. It looks like where you'd wrap a rope tie or something, but there is nothing next to them. They are held in with two screws. I have no idea what they are for.

They are the temperature sensors for the front and rear AC. Unfortunately they sense the temperature inside the wall better than they do the room temperature. If you remove the screws and install some spacers and longer screws so that room air can circulate around the sensor they will do a better job of holding room temperature with less variation.

Temp sensors make sense. I can see a spring in them. Thanks all

Hmmmm I was told they are CO2 detectors. But before that I was told they are the thermostats for the AC units. Who to believe... who to believe...

Try taking the two screws loose and see if there are wires connected to it. I have a feeling that they are the temperature sensors for your AC/heat system.
